One Saturday night in March of 2021, my 11 year old dog Indie began acting oddly. She was trying to throw up and couldn’t and was in a lot of discomfort. I looked up the symptoms and then called Urgent Pet Care West. After a brief consultation, they told me to bring her in immediately. They got her right in and quickly determined that she had a twisted stomach and needed surgery immediately. The doctor was honest with me, telling me that this was very serious and she had a 50-50 chance. They called me after surgery and told me that not only did she have a twisted stomach, she also had a ruptured mass on her spleen that was causing internal bleeding. But, even though the surgery was hard and her blood pressure dropped, they were able to stabilize her, repair her stomach and remove the mass. They checked in with me at midnight before they closed and even sent me a photo of her! (Attached) They told me that they would call me with an update when they opened at 6:00 am, and they called me promptly at that time to tell me that Indie had a good night and that I could pick her up at 6:00 that evening. The doctor and staff at Urgent Pet Care West saved my dog’s life and she’s just fine today, two and a half years later. I can’t begin to express my gratitude for the entire staff. They are dedicated and caring. The photos - one from the night of her surgery, only a couple hours later, and one from this week.
Do not recommend going here! My dog was acting very weird and swaying, anxious, drooling and just out of it. Took her in and they never examined her over the 3 hours that we were there. She has had previous issues with ear infections so I wanted to make sure she got the right medications since her original vet clinic is located in Lincoln. They never checked hands on or took any vitals or simply looked in the ears. Dog started getting more anxious of being there in general. Made me call poison control and pay $89 to them for them to tell me they think she could’ve gotten into some kind of thc product. Waited another hour to be told she would have to stay over night to “keep an eye on her and hydrate her” told me it would be $3000. I ended up having to pay $260 just for spending 3 hours in there. Called normal vet and told symptoms and explained everything the next day. They said she should be okay and that this vet urgent care should never have jumped to such high conclusions without checking ears as it’s so common for my dog to get infections. Only nice people were the front desk, specifically they lady with tattoos on her head.
So thankful that I found Urgent pet care. They got me in on Sunday morning and got our dog in that ingested glue, They were able to quickly diagnose her and perform emergency surgery. They kept me informed thru the whole process. All the way to pick up on Monday morning. Debbie thanks you guys also!!!
Such friendly staff and very caring! Our 13 year old girl had a mini stroke, and they explained everything and made us feel better about giving her time to see if she improves. Second time we've had to be at this office, and will always refer others if they need emergency pet care!
I never imagined my own dog would have an emergency so of course it would happen after hours. We called right away and were able to be seen just as quickly. My family was met with professional warmth and kindness. Everything was explained thoroughly; being a LVT really helped as I knew the steps needed to be taken anyway but the staff wasn’t aware of this fact until later. Both the VA and Vet were quick, thorough, and compassionate. I know times are hard now for our field and I so greatly appreciate the help we received. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes most people don’t know about. I felt confident as a fellow Vet Med member that my heart dog was safe and well cared for. Thank you UPC for all you do and all you will do for others!!
My 2 year old cat managed to get an object stuck in her small bowel. She had symptoms for a week of pancreatitis and just no answers. They took us late on a Friday and got my girl into surgery right away. Saved her life and it’s only one week later and she is back to her feisty self! I can’t thank all the staff enough. The text updates and ability to text to check in on my cat was just something I haven’t seen elsewhere and it kept me calm. One staff member also prayed for my girl over the phone with me. I’m not religious myself, but I believe in sending out positivity and kindness. I can’t recommend them enough.
