Description "Mt. Scott Animal Clinic has served Portland, OR since 1969. Our doctors work together to ensure that your pets receive the best veterinary care that you’re able to provide them. We provide personalized veterinary care for each patient we see."
Before Covid this place was great. You get a real sense they will do everything they can to squeeze every dollar they can out of you. The office staff is good, and the medical staff has a communication style that intends to induce an emotional response out of you in order to get more services and money out of you. In other words they will shame and scare you into doing what they want. I mean, they don’t even have restrooms for their customers, that seems wild to me in a professional setting. While they’ll provide the services you need, you’re better off taking your pet to a place where the customer relationship matters and is valued. This place does not care about its customers anymore, and it’s a shame, it used to be very different.
I left a mean review a while back (due to somewhat of a minor inconvenience regarding a prescription). I was going through a tough time in my life and I deeply apologize for that. Truth be told, our pets were treated with care and the prices were reasonable for the services provided. Everyone I've interacted with there was kind and efficient. They would get on phone calls with us and explain our pet's condition with detail, answer any questions no matter how long it took, and lord knows I had a lot of those. I would highly recommend this place.
Writing a review based on my visit on 1/11/24. Dr. Eddy and the vet techs that assisted me and my 15 year old beagle were great. They were short staffed and running but that didn't impact the care they gave my dog. I didn't catch the name, but the vet tech who gave Daisy her shots and the nail trim - you were so kind and patient. Thank you. EDIT: - What an ordeal to get my 15 year old dog her heart medication. I asked for a call back from Dr. Eddy on 3/13 and was told she would call me back. Today, 3/13 - a new vet tech told me the only way to get speak to the doctor was to schedule an exam. The vet tech i spoke to was not able to answer my questions so the only solution is paying for another exam? She also could not answer my question: is blood work LEGALLY required to fill my geriatric dogs medication - or is this a way to funnel more funds into the clinic. For context - my dog is 15, has had elevated liver levels for years, and will continue to until she dies. So for this clinic to refuse to fill her script without $300 blood panels EVERY 4 MONTHS - is outrageous. Will not take either pet back here per how they've handled this whole situation.
I've been coming here for years and can not speak highly enough about Dr. Kimball and the entire staff. Every visit leaves me with peace of mind about my little mans health. When he got really sick awhile back, they took great care of him and were very patient with me while I was stressing out and really helped obtain/organize all the paperwork from the different ERs I had been to. The front desk rocks and they will always listen with a sympathetic ear when I'm just calling about a weird lump or too much eye goo. They get back to me super quickly when I request more info or documents via email as well. Thanks you guys are the best!
We took our cat Shiba there to have her toenails trimmed. We had a regular vet out in happy valley. We only wanted her toenails trimmed. We took her in, and the person there said that she had a tumor and it was oozing. We knew she had cancer. They said, you must put her down. We said we'd take her home. They said you must call us to put her down. Since we didn't call the next day, they took it upon themselves to have animal control come over to our house. They threatened us with a citation if we didn't put the cat down. I don't know about you, but it seems to me that government or businesses in general have just taken over. They have control over what you do every moment of your life including your pets. The lady at Mount Scott animal clinic said, maybe her name was heather I don't remember it was several years ago now. She said after I called to inform her we put Sheba down with The vet in happy valley that they would send us a card, but after 3 years, She never sent the card it's a sympathy card they sent out when pets die. I would never take my cat to that place again. We don't have any new cats and we have no plans to get more animals after this experience. She really didn't need to threaten us like she did, ordering us to put Sheba down NOW!! Because we didn't meet her arbitrary deadline of 24 hours, she called animal control. We had planned to take the cat to our other vet to in happy valley. It was because I said I want my cat to die at home she didn't like that that's why she reported us. Now that I have had three years to Think about it, they're interested in making the most money they can even in death. They showed no compassion. And by promising to send the signed sympathy card and not sending it has Left a lasting impression. If you're looking for a compassionate Place this isn't it. At least it was a horrible experience for us at a time when we weren't Ready to say goodbye.
They were very quick to save my puppy when he had an alergic reaction to a vaccination. I am very thankful. they were very comforting in such a stressful time as well.
