We can't say enough good things about Yonker's Animal Shelter and their staff. We rescued our beloved Rocky the Pit Bull from them almost six years ago. He was our best friend until he crossed the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge four months ago. We just went back and rescued another Pit Bull from them; Hector. Since this was our second rescue from them, Ava and I were treated like a king and queen. And we ended up with a wonderful dog. Their facility is spotless. The staff lovely.

We adopted a senior dog from Yonkers Animal Shelter. The shelter is beautiful, the dogs & cats are well taken care of and the volunteers are amazing! They told us everything about the dog we were adopting, they were honest, friendly and clearly full of love for their animals. They are angels on earth. Thank you all!

Very bad and reckless shelter. In August 26 y h, 2024, I adopted a cat. The cat was terribly sick and made me and my fiance sick. I returned it and was told that I was going to get my application fee refunded back to my original form of payment (my credit card) in 2 to 4 weeks. However, I never received the refund. On September 27th, 2024, I called the shelter and spoke to "Thiago," who told me that a check issue by the city of Yonkers was going to be mail to me - never received it either. On October 14th, 2024, I called the shelter again and asked to speak to the manager Lauren. She told me that she was going to take care of the issue and call the Department of Parks and Recreation because according to her, they're the ones that issue the check. She also informed me that she was going to call me back but she never did. I've been calling ever since I spoke to Lauren on Oct. 14th, but nobody answers my calls. This animal shelter is not doing the right thing. At least not with me.

So many options- lots of cats and dogs to choose from . The kittens and puppies are adopted quickly ;the staff is amazing, friendly and knowledgeable , and the adoption process is straightforward with great follow through.

Entrance hits you with horrible smell. Pretty clean otherwise. Lots of workers which is great. This is not the place you can let unless seriously thinking to adopt, which is sanitary and disease preventing regulation for humans and animals. Most dogs are Pitbulls--need to secure your big house---good place to find them here. Lots of adult cats. Go as if you go to Ridgewood Hills, but before Yonkers Plaza toll.

I knew someone who was very interested in a dog named Troy. He was about to adopt it snd filled out the application. The Shelter went ahead and adopted to someone else, even when he said he was going to adopt it. So unfair to him 😪. He really loved Troy, and it was hard for to get there because he is in a wheelchair.
