We can't say enough good things about Yonker's Animal Shelter and their staff. We rescued our beloved Rocky the Pit Bull from them almost six years ago. He was our best friend until he crossed the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge four months ago. We just went back and rescued another Pit Bull from them; Hector. Since this was our second rescue from them, Ava and I were treated like a king and queen. And we ended up with a wonderful dog. Their facility is spotless. The staff lovely.

I just came from there and I adopted a kitten, she's so beautiful but I felt there was something was a little off about her, she seemed very timid. Not aggressive in any way thank god but scared. I'm hoping this will pass because she picked a spot under the couch and hasn't left there since, I know kittens open up quickly for the most part. Runts run off and I specifically asked them not to give me an unsuitable cat. I've owned cats my whole life so I know a little about them, I know runts are either super aggressive or super timid or both but if she doesn't warm up in a day or two like the 30 previous cats I've owned, then I'll have to take her back for a normal kitty. There's a reason why their own mothers left them behind unfortunately. Hopefully it works out.🤞 Not to mention I paid 100 bucks for her😂

We adopted a senior dog from Yonkers Animal Shelter. The shelter is beautiful, the dogs & cats are well taken care of and the volunteers are amazing! They told us everything about the dog we were adopting, they were honest, friendly and clearly full of love for their animals. They are angels on earth. Thank you all!

I knew someone who was very interested in a dog named Troy. He was about to adopt it snd filled out the application. The Shelter went ahead and adopted to someone else, even when he said he was going to adopt it. So unfair to him 😪. He really loved Troy, and it was hard for to get there because he is in a wheelchair.

Today I went to drop off a few donations (sheets, towels, new heated beds, some toys)… I walked in about 3 steps and saw they were doing renovations and meanwhile the doors were wide open so I was like uh hi hello I just wanna drop stuff off or is there a receptionist or someone to inform? And this woman came out I think the vet or a vet tech and was super nasty, like we are CLOSED!!!! You need to get out I was like I’m just donating stuff she’s like there’s a sign on the door we are closed I said yeah well the doors are wide open so clearly that sign wasn’t visible. She then told me to just leave the bag of stuff so I asked ok where should I leave it (as in like here on this construction site)??? She said go outside and leave it on the bench someone will get it. Extremely RUDE. And not even a thank you. Hopefully she isn’t like that towards animals.

So many options- lots of cats and dogs to choose from . The kittens and puppies are adopted quickly ;the staff is amazing, friendly and knowledgeable , and the adoption process is straightforward with great follow through.
