I am under the impression that this facility does not offer shelter. Springfield is larger now. Most facilities are full or overflowing. FOH is set up to accommodate all families and singles but doesn't treat alcohol and drug addicted individuals with enough decency for them to handle the the problems that they are dealing with. Most of these are suffering a dual issue. Abuse of drugs and mental health issues. Their is one shelter for men in town, affiliated with this center but it's small, you cannot stay inside all day. You must leave and bear the weather from 7:30am to 4:00pm. And after every 40 days of sleeping there they make you leave for 2 weeks regardless of the weather. It's inhumane. Those persons on the 2 week off period need to be able to go to this place. But they can't. And the two facilities that The Mission offers are so far away from each other Most don't even try to get there. If your in line for the 4pm opening at Taylor St you still may not be guaranteed a bed. That whole process of trying to reserve a bed daily needs to be reviewed and updated as well. Those, FOH and Taylor St. are the only 2 overnight shelters. The homeless numbers are growing but the shelters are not.

Safe serve is not followed. Volunteer continue to violate the rules by putting thing in garbage and returning to pass out food without changing gloves. Touching salad, then meet and then salad again. The meat will contaminate the salad. Change your gloves. The other part is condiments. Why do you serve French toast and pancakes dry? No butter or syrup. Hotdogs on a roll? No catchup or mustard just dry. Does the mission not have to follow safe serve guidelines or proper procedures.

This is the nicest place I know of out in the Springfield area. There are other Christian charitable organizations out there but I truly believe that this place above all others does the most good. That is only true perception They unlike another place that gets donations of clothes do not sell them they have a give away center were people less fortunate can go and obtain things they need that is the definition of ALTRUISM. And Christian Agape ✝️ Love...

Chicken for thanksgiving?!?! Are you kidding me?! They give out thanksgiving dinners and it's chicken. Will the people who gave out those dinners be eating chicken on thanksgiving? I don't think so. How lame!
