This place is an outstanding place to adopt an animal. I will start with a little disappointing part. Our family found a dog we really liked. It was a 10 month old husky. We spent time and went to visit it. We then spent two hours waiting to adopt him. After that wait, we found out that they forgot to put an adopted sign on it. We left a little angry and a lot devastated. Knowing we really wanted a dog, I went back the next day. After looking at all the dogs, I found a second choice. While she was not our first choice, she was the best choice. This time, we got to spend time with her in the play area. We got to the adoption process, and it was very smooth. We were given the background on the dog and her relevant medical history as well as what they were treating her for now. I was given the opportunity to back out of the adoption if any of that information did not look good or was too much for me. After getting the dog home, we really appreciated how great the dog was and why she should have been our first choice. The dog was well trained in listening, responding, and potty trained. The dog has the greatest temperament of any dog. She absolutely lets my three and six year old abuse her in a loving way. She is not at all aggressive or protective of food. When adopted, I was told about a 30-day return policy. I can appreciate this and am glad they have this as some animals just may not be able to adapt to a new environment. We are definitely not returning her. I received several emails after adopting her and even a phone call. This place does have a few great workers and even way more great volunteers. The people here really care about animals and try to get them the best homes. One of the greatest parts is that we got our forever husky at a steal of a deal and only paid $25 for her during an adoption special. Thank you to all the employees and many more volunteers here who try to make a difference in every animals life. If you have the opportunity to adopt an animal or help this place, it is an absolute worthwhile place to consider.

The staff and volunteers were very friendly and informative. You can tell that they genuinely care about the welfare of the animals in their care. Although it's a government facility, they do a great job of making the experience as welcoming and friendly as possible.

After perusing online photos I then made 3 trips to the shelter to acquaint myself with the adoption dogs. They have so many wonderful dogs it took me over a week to narrow down the dog best for my situation and lifestyle. I picked what has turned out to be an excellent walking and household companion!

Words can't express my gratitude to the amazing people working and volunteering at the shelter. They brought this angel into our lives and family and provided her great care after her previous owner passed away. We adopted at the end of December 2022 and I've wanted to leave this review since then, but struggled to find the right words to sing their praise. They honestly do so much for animals and to set adoptive parents up for success! They did a full exam and gave us a voucher to get another free exam near us. They sent us home with her medical records, a bag of her food, some treats, and a blanket that she IMMEDIATELY knew was for her and has enjoyed since. Most importantly, they LOVED her. If anyone who cared for "Lisa" in December reads this, seriously thank you so much. I told you we already loved her so much when we went to pick her up, and we just love her more the more she shows us her personality. Thank you for being angels ❤❤❤❤❤❤

So many animals in need of loving homes. We have come along way from the kill shelters with Animal services, and they have web sites to look for lost pets as well as seek out a new addition to your pet family. I have been thankful for the ability to find that my pet was taken in by them when he escaped.

We adopted our 2 bunnies from MCAS and we couldn’t be happier. We love our bunnies and they have become part of the family.
