I come here about once a week and I’m always greeted and welcomed. I love the opportunity to hold the animals with the help of the staff. I love the fact that you are able to take pictures with any animal you desire. The Tri-County Humane Society is a great place to Adopt, Volunteer, and Donate.
I've volunteered here and have had family members adopt pets here. They do a wonderful job in both areas! As for volunteering, they thoroughly train you and provide support after if you have any questions. Volunteers do tasks that are safe and comfortable for them, they are not required or told to do anything dangerous. If a task or interaction is uncomfortable, a staff member will happily take over. They want to ensure that their volunteers are happy and safe (this also keeps the pets safe, too). I would definitely recommend volunteering here! As for adopting, the viewing process is nice and staff are happy to answer any questions. They don't rush you and let you get a feel for the animals personality. The paperwork is straightforward and relatively quick to fill out. They care about each of their animals and do their best to make sure they're happy and healthy from the time they come in to when they're adopted. Overall, they truly do care about the animals in their care and are a great organization!
Staff and volunteers were kind and knowledgeable. I was offered a private room to meet and greet a couple of kittens I was interested in. The room had a couple chairs, toys and treats available that allowed me to interact and see the personalities of both kittens without the distraction of other visitors and cats. It was very helpful in finding which kitten and I "clicked" best. The adoption and payment process was very straightforward. Kittens are $200 however, It's nice that the kitten was already neutered and chipped before I even took him home. 17 years ago when I adopted my previous 2 kittens from TCHC, they were not fixed, I had to do that within a month of bringing them home, and that cost more than $200. They also sell basic pet supplies so you can get what you need if your bringing home a pet for the first time.
Tri-County Humane Society was easily located close to MN-10 in a facility that is about 4 yrs old. Very nice, bright and happy facility with great volunteers that were helpful and caring. So excited that we were able to adopt the newest member of our family, re-named Shadow.
Gummy has been with me coming on two years now, and he is my heart and joy. Although he had more breeds than advertised I am happy with the puppy I adopted. These are pics of Gummy now and when he first came home.
Edit** Now, would that have been so difficult to explain on the phone with me yesterday? Interesting how I'm not given ANY advice or "pro tips" or really any valid explanation at all until after I leave a poor review on your business page. Wish I would have asked for that man's name because he clearly needs additional training, or maybe just shouldn't be employed there. Also, you have kittens on your website that are only a little over a month old, which they look much smaller than the ones still sitting inside a box in our backyard who are in need. Called today (05/07/24) to try scheduling a day/time to drop off some stray kittens we found outside of our residence in the backyard and was turned down. The man I spoke to on the phone was very short with me and extremely unhelpful. I was still told no even after offering to pay to drop them off, even though these kittens are not mine and don't belong to anyone in our building. They are old enough to be taken in by a shelter, and they deserve a chance at a good life, so I don't understand what their issue is. Our landlord has put up notices that we are to bring any stray cats that we find to a shelter. They don't want them on their property, and management here has no idea what cats are on their property and which ones aren't. So, to tell me that I need to ask my landlord if the mom cat is around isn't an option, nor should it even matter. This place would rather see kittens sit in a box outside, not getting any human interaction/vet care instead of being adopted and properly taken care of. Do better.
