Be careful if your have an emergency they are a KILL shelter. I was told about this facility after getting evicted. I had 2 small dogs. The community spoke highly of this place, that my dogs would be safe. I was told about the cages outside. I called next day to check on my dogs and the main guy called me back. He was short with me, very rude. Now I have 8 days left. The 10th day they said they will kill them. I had to leave the state with my kids as we had no where to go. All I have been doing is thinking about my dogs. Yes it’s my fault but I didn’t have a choice. They were inside and trained dogs. If I go move them to another shelter they are going to charge me the adoption fees to transfer them to a NO KILL shelter.

Would give negative stars if I could. This shelter is horrible. They are animal murderers! My dog was stolen and taken in to the shelter (by someone who knows me and was using my dog to harass me). I was told by animal control if I made a police report then I could get the fees waived. I am currently unemployed and on assistance, so waiving the few hundred dollars fee was important to me. I made several reports, and each time I'd give the shelter the incident numbers, they said they would get the info and contact me back, but it would take them days to respond. Eventually, I would call them back, and they would make some kind of complaint that the report was "too vague", but that was a complete LIE! When I called and checked what the report said, I found out it included every single thing that I had stated, in detail. That manager lied to me! Also, they were not forthright with all the information. They NEVER told me he was adoptable after 10 days, or that I needed cash if the pet taxi was going to get him for me (I am 30 mins away and a stranger here so I have no friends or family for a ride). It ended up being about 30 days he was there, I had given up on the waived fees, and was just trying to get my dog back. I was calling for the manager every single day, but I was constantly told he was "in the field", and that he would call me back. On Thursday at 4:40 pm she told me for the first time the charge was $450, and it had to be in cash. She said he had kennel cough, which she hadn't mentioned any of the 20 times I had called in that week, and that I had to retrieve him by 5 pm the VERY NEXT DAY. I asked her what was going to happen if I couldn't get the cash together in 24 hours, and she said she didn't know, that the manager would answer that. Well he did answer. He finally called me back at 4:30 pm the next day and informed me that at 5 pm he would be murdered by euthanasia. I begged him to give me one more day and I would find someone who could adopt him. There were many people who loved him, and if I couldn't get the $450 together I could at least get the adoption fees so he could live. He refused. They could have worked with me. Then they would have money and my Bubba would still be alive. Instead, my reason for living is gone, and they will have to deal with bad reviews and complaints to their superiors. Which by the way, if you want to make a formal complaint about this shelter, you will do so by contacting the Yucca Valley Deputy Town Manager, which I found quickly doing a Google search. P.s. a local recently told me they swore they saw my dog, outside the shelter, with some man. I have a feeling in my gut that they did actually get their money, by selling my beautiful dog. Many people had offered to buy him from me, to which I always said no, but I bet they didn't. I bet they are lying to me about all of it, and they sold him and pocketed the money! 🤬😫😭

Got a beautiful black car as our new family member! They were very helpful and the cats seemed well taken care of.

Had a great experience adopting my new dog, spot. He came with that name. I got to bring my other dog up to see if the two would be comparable. They loved each other. The rest is history. Poor spot has been in doggy jail for over nine months. His last owner had passed away . Every time I went up to the shelter he was still there. I knew if he was still there at the end of this month , I would have to take him home. Thanks for the new friend.

This place is the worst! We went to get a dog and we got a cute loving sweet chocolate lab. She went to the vet to get fixed and the next day we picked her up. They told us she was perfectly healthy then as soon as we got her and pet her we saw three big lumps on her. We made a vet appointment on they way home from getting her. We bonding to this sweet amazing dog for a month now and was told today by the vet that she has cancer. When I call the animal shelter obviously really mad they said they didn’t know. But I don’t understand how. They told us she was at the shelter for a year. So did they just not think anything of the lumps or what? How did they take her to a vet and the vet not even say anything when we realized as soon as we got to pet her!? Because of “covid” when you adopt your pet your not allowed to touch it till the adoption is final. So we had no clue till on the way home. It’s messed up cause now we are paying a huge medical bill that we shouldn’t have to pay for and we can’t do anything about it cause we already love the dog and attached to her. This shelter is seriously messed up.

Do not let the low ratings discourage you... it almost happened to me. I’m so happy I decided to give this animal shelter a try. I was dropping off some donations (toys, towels, blankets) and decided to look around. The staff was warm and professional. They helped me bring in the donations and then gave me a tour of the facilities. I was impressed by how clean everything was and the variety of cats and dogs they had - BEAUTIFUL pets! They also looked so happy and clean. A lot of the dogs were already adopted which makes me happy, so if the one you want is already adopted, please keep checking back. Your fur baby is waiting for you!
