Oak Park Animal Hospital has been taking care of my cat, James Bond, since we adopted him in August 2019. There were two instances where my cat was sick, and both times Oak Park Animal Hospital managed to get us an appointment quickly. Bond felt better immediately after seeing the doctor. I feel grateful and reassured knowing I can always count on Oak Park Animal Hospital to be there for my cat!
We started bringing our cat here about 2 months ago, and so far, our experience has been wonderful. To start, the vet technicians are amazing. They’re incredibly caring, kind, and knowledgeable. Initially, we reached out to OPAH looking for a service they did not provide at their clinic, but the staff assisted me in locating a clinic that does. We really appreciated the support they gave us when we weren’t even clients at that time, so we decided to come back to establish care for our cat with OPAH. We have had some health scares with our new cat, and the staff has been very accommodating with our last-minute appointment needs. Not to mention, the staff was very calming and kind as we were very concerned and worried about our baby girl, and they really made us feel supported. We really appreciated the way they have gone above and beyond to help us and our cat. Dr. Dina is also wonderful. She is very knowledgeable, takes her time, and always makes sure we understand what's going on and the treatment plan before we leave. While the services are pricey, they are on par with other vets in the area. I think the farther out from the city you go, you can find slightly cheaper service prices, but for the convenience and quality of care my cat has received, I don’t mind the pricing. I also appreciate the price transparency; most vets include the OSHA disposal and equipment costs in their pricing, but OPAH breaks it all down on your bill. While we are still new to OPAH, I highly recommends!
I hate making this review, as my dog has gone to this vet for over two years, but this vet is squeezing money out of its customers. I took my dog to have them look at rash on his stomach. They told me they wanted to do a full maintenance profile, since my dog is older. I asked the cost, swallowed when I heard roughly $140, then said OK. When I got home and examined my invoice, I saw that they charged me an additional $13 for "sample collection and handling." I was confused, since I brought a fecal sample myself, so I called to ask. I was told that, in addition to the $140 I paid for the profile, they were charging me $13 for the supplies (two lab tubes) and time (minutes) it took to collect the sample to send to the lab to have the profile done. This is on top of the $89.95 examination fee! It is so sad to me when I have to put vets in the same group as car dealerships. I will be looking for another vet.
This place is horrible and the Dr is unethical. Our 16-yr-old cat had been seen by this practice for five years, including boarding him twice. He was very ill when we brought him in to be looked at in Jan 2024. The Vet tech felt a large mass in his bladder. The Dr wanted $800 for Xrays and blood work to determine if he had cancer. We felt that was unnecessary and asked for him to be euthanized. The Dr refused, saying that it would be inhumane. We were given a painkiller (after I insisted) to administer to him at home. He died 2 days later and it was not pretty. Who is the inhumane one here?
How much do I love Dr. D. and the crew, let me count the ways. I first started going to OPAH a number of years ago when I adopted and required services for my ferret, Sheridan. They were wonderful with him and provided so much knowledge and support. When it came his time to expire, the personnel handled everything and were all very sad, as he had become a part of their family as well. More recently, I have taken one of my cats and a new acquired Guinea pig to see Doctor D. As always...extremely knowledgeable, professional, and accommodating to all of our needs. Thank you!!
I've only gone here once for the flu vaccine, but I think I found my vet!!! I tried PetVets animal hospital for flea and tic shots or something like that and they thought my baby was a monster. They gave her anxiety meds for future visits, said she needs a behaviorist/ psychological help, and that I should never let her be around other dogs. They were unhelpful when I asked about what is the nearest, best emergency room. It was a really bad, stressful situation for everyone involved. At the Oak Park Animal Hospital they were very kind to my rhodesian ridgeback and she likes them. They are very good at explaining things and answering my questions. They have lots of good information. They have treats!! My dog especially likes the guy who is like the physicians assistant or nurse type role.
