Started off great. My daughter wanted to adopt a cat & the process took some time, but it seemed like they were being thorough to make sure their cats go to good homes. They said they’d get her the vet records for the cat, who has been with them for quite a while. Being a responsible owner she had immediately made an appointment to take her new cat to the vet & needed the records. She followed up again & again - and was always told (with apologies) they’d get them right away. She ended up getting all the shots - maybe again, maybe not - because they still haven’t sent them after more than a month. Either there’s something wrong they didn’t disclose (waiting on test results) or they never provided vet care. It’s very suspicious. I pray nothing is seriously wrong, but would not recommend adopting from them.

Felt like I did not get a fair assessment in the adoption application process for unknown reasons. Had interest in a particular cat I met at their Petsmart event, but was told the adoption would be “unsuccessful” since I did not have another companion cat currently at my home for him to bond with. Despite mentioning that I planning on getting a 2nd cat within the next 1-2 years, they still rejected my interest in a cat I had interest in adopting.

We are so disheartened and at a loss for words with this organization. I am not sure the purpose of them hosting adoption fairs and taking up space in PetSmart with only specific adopters in mind. We were not sure if our hearts were ready to adopt again after a loss but, we knew it was right when we met a certain cat. Immediately, we filled out the application and were told it would take a couple days to at most a week. We were contacted for questions the next day and after that communication was scarce to non-existent. We tried to call many times asking for an update, seeing if we could go spend time with him and nothing. We were even in PetSmart one day and approached them about seeing Colin and they did not help facilitate this at all. We then received a text saying our application was submitted and almost 2 weeks later, today, we got an email saying we were not approved without any explanation as to why. We attempted to ask for explantion and were left on "read". Our house comes with love in the form of four paws, we love our babies and wanted nothing more than to provide him with a loving home and it seems they have a different agenda and rather him stay, at PetSmart, for an unknown amount of time. I would not recommend this organization to anyone and suggest looking elsewhere because their lack of compassion and regard for the adopters is evident.

I started volunteering for KPA a month or so ago and it is clear through interacting with other volunteers how much they care for the cats and their well being as well as getting them into the perfect home for them. Then, recently, I became familiar with KPA on a different level as my husband and I applied for and eventually adopted a cat rescued by them! We were very happy with the adoption process. The original application was thorough and we were happy to have them call references and our vet (showing again how much they care about finding great homes for these cats!). Once we started doing meet and greets, Alyssa was helpful and patient and allowed us ample time to meet some of these cute kitties! We have two dogs, so we came back separately with them to do a meet and greet. We were disappointed when two of the cats we thought would be perfect did not get along well with our dogs. (Not the cats fault I may add!) I was feeling pretty defeated when Alyssa suggested one more cat that another volunteer said might be a good fit. And he was!! We are thrilled to welcome our little guy into our home and are glad to know that before he found us he was cared for so well by the KPA team. Thanks, KPA!!

Great experience. They are a volunteer based organization that does great work. It took me a couple of weeks from beginning to end due to the uptick in applications due to COVID which is completely understandable because not only are animal adoptions popular nationwide, there are also new safety protocols to follow. Don’t forget that these are volunteers who work regular jobs alongside their work at this organization. We adopted the sweetest little cat and everyone was very patient with me as I took my time trying to find the cat that was the best fit for my family. They must have answered a million questions from me and were kind throughout the entire process. I got all vet records quickly and have no complaints at all about the process. Thanks to everyone for all the hard work!!

I'm so happy and impressed! This group really takes great care to ensure the cats are adopted by wonderful owners through their application process. It took a couple of weeks to adopt our 2 newest additions, which was fine because adopting a pet like a cat is a serious decision. Their cats on Petfinder were out of date, but I figured out it's because they keep their facebook page updated instead. Plus you can see a lot of them at the Petsmart on Hurstbourne. It's kind of hard to fault an all volunteer run group like this. Our new boys were in great shape according to our normal vet. They were chipped, neutered, etc like they said and expected. It's been a blast and looking forward to many years of joy ahead and when the time comes, we'd love to adopt from them again!
