Description Rainbow Meadows is an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) public charity that is dedicated to the rescue of abused, neglected and unwanted horses which it makes available for adoption through a process designed to ensure that the horse goes to a safe and caring “forever” home. Rainbow Meadows also actively works to educate current and potential horse owners on how to provide quality care for their horses and offers a retirement program for individuals wishing to retire their horses to the ranch. Rainbow Meadows was established in 2005, and was the first Kansas horse rescue to be verified by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (www.sanctuaryfederation.org/gfas).
Went for their Christmas at the Stables event. It was the first I had heard of this place, but I was very impressed with their operation. Lots of pretty lights and beautiful horses. Thank you to everyone who volunteers their time here!
I have been volunteering for animal rescues since I was 13 years old. I have been volunteering at Rainbow Meadows now for a year and a half. I have never seen a place take better care of their animals. Whether you are adopting, looking to re-home an equine, looking to donate to an incredible cause, or volunteer— This is the place. A magical home for horses old, young and in need.
A great organization. Well oiled machine. Everyone was nice and welcoming. The horses were happy and content. Thanks Karen for all your advice.
I took my two boys this evening to see the lights & horses. One of my boys is 2.5 years old & autistic. We show up & we have to wait outside for almost 15 minutes which already had my son worked up. We then proceeded to enter the building where we had to wait another 10+ minutes while Karen (yes her name is literally Karen) told us all about rainbow meadows. At this point, my 2.5 year old was done. He was in a small room crammed with a lot of people. After she finally gets done with her talk, we start to line up single file & at that time my friend had my child. My son was climbing him trying to get away because he was overwhelmed. Karen proceeded to make a comment “wow, are you sure you’re going to be able to control him?” My friend said “yes” & kind of laughed. I then proceeded to take my child back out to the car in which Karen continued to make a comment to my wife saying “wow that little boy must be tired” my wife stated back to her that he was autistic in which Karen replied “oh yeah, autism. That’ll do it”. Now this doesn’t sound like much, but it was her demeanor & the way she spoke to us. On top on that, there was no advertisement on the fact that strollers weren’t allowed, you cannot touch the horses, and there are very minimal lights. I respect what rainbow meadows does however, there should be better advertisement as far as what this is & what the horses cannot handle because clearly this is not an event for children with special needs. Disappointing is an understatement. We will absolutely not be returning.
Such a wonderful place my sister and her boyfriend went to the Christmas lights and loved it so much. They really loved how well the horses are taken care of and loved.
A Beautiful and Amazing place for Rescue Horses!! Loving and very Caring people!!!
