Description "Each VCA hospital has health and safety protocols in place based on health care best practices as well as state and local guidance and regulations."
I do not recommend this location, or VCA in general, unless you enjoy being nickel and dimed for every little thing that they can think of. Their rates for labs and X-rays for even normal appointments border on pet ER pricing, and they will try to just shove an iPad into your face with every lab under the sun listed even if they might not be necessary at all. The vet will make you feel like you’re not doing enough for your sick pet if you even try to talk to them about different options or cheaper labs rather than sitting down with you and having an honest conversation about alternative steps moving forward. The entire time we were there, the vet made us feel like she didn’t have the time for us and didn’t care to fully answer our questions.
Top 3 worst vet experiences I've ever had. I managed NM's largest no kill shelter for awhile and rescue a bunch of dogs on my own as well, so I have dealt with countless vets. Found a dog recently, and he has worms in his stool. I brought him here due to my usual vet being booked out too far. Did the shots and ran all the tests, then was sent home with medicine and told I'd hear back in 48 hours. After the weekend, I still didn't hear back from them. (Over 72 hours, not 48) I had to call them to figure out what was going on. Was told they'd reach out after speaking to the vet. Again I didn't get a call back. Getting him in at my usual vet this week thank goodness. I can't believe there is a clinic out here that really doesn't care enough to let their clients know what the heck is going on. So unprofessional and careless of them, maybe get a new front desk person? I'd recommend VCA Ventana, they're SOOO much better and you'll almost certainly get a response that same day, probably while you're still on the phone with them.
Do not bring your pet to Town and Country unless your pet needs dental services. Every time we took our dog in for an appt. Something was wrong with her teeth. In the middle of our ðog having an en ormous cyst removed, they wanted to take more teeth out. Also, if you do not have the money to pay for a treatment, even in an emergency, they will not see your pet. They use no discretion and talk load, so the entire lobby knows your financial situation. They wanted to charge 900 for tests, and we could not afford it right then, and they said we denied service. They need a box to mark "can't afford." There is a difference, and you leave there feeling belittled and judged. After 2 years with them , I won't go back.
My experience here with my dog Leo has been great! I had not taken him to a vet in quite a long time and they got him all caught up with everything- all at a fair price! The whole staff is so kind and knowledgeable, and Dr. DeHerrera is amazing. After the experience, I wouldn't take Leo anywhere else!
We had two terrible experiences here at this location. HERE IS THE WORST: The entire staff -- admin, techs, and the significantly unprofessional vet with his rear end hanging out of his pants were extremely -- and it seemed deliberately -- unhelpful. They had REQUIRED a follow up appointment to have stitches removed, then when we arrived for said appointment the vet actually asked me why I hadn't just removed the stitches myself at home!! (note again, with his rear end crack highly visible and when he turned towards me, plenty of tummy visible). I had to take time off of work in order to accommodate this appointment, by the way. They were not the only people working that day. The vet and his tech (who was openly flirting with him, I believe they had a date planned for later that evening) began to talk rudely about me in front of me, and then would not help me with my dog. They locked the lobby door behind me when I walked out!!!! My dog was very scared due to the weird circumstances and I could not get her in the car. I knocked on the door solidly and even called into the office. The girls at the desk could see me and I could see them ignoring me, and so they left the counter so I could not see them!!!!! A stranger in the parking lot ended up volunteering to help me with my dog. He also seemed very angry and indicated he would be looking for a new vet practice. BOTTOM LINE: USE A DIFFERENT LOCATION for VCA.
Thank you to Dr Lincoln and the front desk staff (Ariel, specifically) for taking care of my dog Zion so efficiently. We were camping in the San Juan Mountains in CO when Zion had an onset of gagging and shortness of breath at 1130pm Tuesday night. My husband and I knew it was emergent and left immediately and we're unable to find ANY vet willing to take him in the middle of the night from Durango to ABQ- they even hung up on me when I called! We arrived before VCA opened and explained what was going on, they told me the nearest 24 hour clinic but due to the arrival time it was faster to wait to have Dr. Lincoln take a look at my boy when he arrived for the day than drive to the other clinic. VCA was fast, though and efficient, they followed up and prescribed additional meds for us as well. Thank you for your excellent service.
