Great experience! I found this rescue through Facebook, and saw a photo of a puppy we fell in love with. We scheduled a meet & greet at Petco, and went home with our new furry baby that very same day. They were very nice and informative during the meet & greet. I was nervous we would not receive the medical records due to some of the reviews, but they sent them over without any issues and guided us through when to schedule his neutering. The neutering is also covered by the rescue which is fantastic! I am very pleased with our experience with HWH and would recommend this rescue to anyone. If you can’t get ahold of them the first time, just try again, I’m sure they are very busy! Thank you for our new family member, we love Moose dearly!
All the **1** Star reviews are TRUE. This outfit is TERRIBLE. You are on their schedule. Everything is done through email. No phone number provided prior to, during the process, or after the purchase. They will tell you that they're "top notch", and will help set you up so that your pet can receive continued care (because they care so much for that pet!). When you need something, such as to make an appointment for your pet to get neutered... crickets! (The cost of your animals treatment is allegedly built into the cost of your purchase). Need medical records? CRICKETS! STAY AWAY FROM THIS OUTFIT!!! They are terrible, and ONLY want to sell you an animal. Period. We have reached out 8 times over a month for resolution, and... crickets!
Avoid this rescue at all costs. I very rarely write one star reviews, but this rescue deserves them. This review is directed towards the owner of this rescue, not the sweet lady at the Petco location at the time of adoption nor the foster moms. They were all so sweet, but the owner of this rescue is the worst. Listen to what the other reviews are saying about the medical records and communication. The communication is abysmal and it took me contacting the Better Business Bureau to get my medical records and get the ball rolling on scheduling the spay and neuter appointments. In the confirmation email for the adoption/pickup appointment, it specifically said I would receive my medical records and get arrangements to get their spay and neuter appointments on the day of picking up the cats, which never happened. When they responded to my complaint about their horrible communication and not following up, they lied and said I "rescheduled pickup multiple times" when I only rescheduled the pickup of my two cats once due to plan constraints. Just pointless excuses when its something they can't even follow through with on their own terms and conditions. Even AFTER submitting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, they haven't responded to my email regarding my spay and neuter appointments in SEVEN days. What kind of backflips and gymnastics do I have to get to just follow through with what they said they were going to do in the first place? If they refuse to respond to your efforts in getting your medical records/fix appointments like they promise in confirmation emails, then complain to their Better Business Bureau page and keep consistently contacting them regarding this horrendous communication experience. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. THIS RESCUE HAS THE WORST COMMUNICATION AND CAN'T EVEN FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THEIR OWN PROMISES.
I had a wonderful experience with Halfway Home adopting our puppy Artie. I see a lot of these reviews complaining about communication, but I had no issues! This is a volunteer-run shelter, and you can tell the volunteers pour their hearts into caring for the animals and finding them good homes.
I had a great experience applying and adopting the best dog. It was an easy process and you could tell the foster parents really cared about their temporary pets. Reading through the many reviews on here makes me sad to see people do not understand the time, money, and love that goes into caring for these pets. Without them these dogs were all at risk of, or were in imminent danger of being euthanized when they were rescued. If you have an issue with this rescue you need a reality check of what really goes into getting something like this together.
I have had wonderful experiences with this rescue. The volunteers give their entire heart to the animals. They do not give up on and dog regardless of medical condition like my Hops puppy. They do not choose the first applicant for a dog but the best applicant for the dog and screen their potential adopters to make sure their animals are going into responsible home. I personally happy they screened me before I adopted!
