Description Kitsap Humane Society is a nonprofit, charitable organization that depends upon the kindness and generosity of its community to find homes for homeless pets. We spay/neuter thousands of animals each year to prevent animal overpopulation and reduce the number of future homeless pets. Sheltering animals since 1908, Kitsap Humane Society envisions a time when all adoptable pets have loving homes.

I recently had a very frustrating and disappointing experience with the Kitsap Humane Society. We went looking for a kitten, and found an adorable cat that we were excited to adopt. After the meet and greet we were sat in the lobby and told that someone would be with us shortly. A bit later we were told there was only one working computer and that it would take a bit longer. No problem, thanks for the update. 30 minutes passes without any updates and we asked the receptionist if it would be much longer. Another 30 minutes passed and still nothing. When the single person working adoptions finished with the customer, we heard then announce they would be unable to process ours due to leaving work soon. At this point we were tired and frustrated so we left. What was supposed to be a fun and special moment of getting a kitten was no longer fun. After calling back the receptionist stated that it would’ve only been 10 more minutes until someone else could’ve helped us. How are we supposed to believe that after being made to wait over an hour. I understand only having one working computer, but there has to be a way to still make the process somewhat efficient, while there are still other people around. IT just seemed like the one person with a computer was left to do it all, when there probably was stuff the other staff were able to do to make the process smoother. I appreciate what the humane society does and I will continue to donate when I can but this process that was supposed to be fun and exciting has turned me off of adopting a cat.

Cheese is living the life and has settled in well with our cats! :) Our family thanks all the employees and volunteers at Kitsap Humane Society for getting these great pets to great homes! <3 <3

I love the energy of this place along with the staff. I got a hospice senior kitty from here and he is blind and also worth it. He has lifted my spirits. Prices are reasonable, but I am posting this because it would be nice if all the animals found a forever home.

We really wanted to adopt a cat vice buy one from a pet store. Showed up right as they opened and submitted adoption paperwork ahead of time. I was 2nd in line and stood there waiting to be helped for 20 minutes. When we were helped, we were told to wait for a staff member to take us to the cats. Waited an additional 40 minutes. Watched staff help others who came in after us. Eventually, we had a staff member take us to the cat area to meet the animals, eventually left with 2 cats, but was left very upset with the staff. 2 hours to adopt a cat when we had paper filled out in advance is ridiculous. They did not seem understaffed either.

Brought my two dogs to get help with flea infections.Dr Agner is very knowledgeable and took care of the problem. I am very grateful so see my dogs no longer suffering. She and her assistant were very patient with the 3 of us. I asked many questions and received clear answers. Thank you very much!

If you go here you need to have an insane amount of patience and an animal already picked out. You have to wait around to see any kind of animal but they only let you see an animal once you ask for that specific animal. Oh and if you have kids under 6 99% of the animals are unavailable to you. There was a lady at the front desk when I had gone that was rude and not informative and super dismissive. I asked her if anyone was going to come get me to see a dog I was interested in and she said “yes” but then preceded to remain silent and not tell me where to go or where to wait and how long a wait would be. Instead she went on her computer for a few moments, looked back at me with a rude expression and told me “you can sit down now” They also do not let you meet the dogs to see their personalities. You interact with them through a glass pane or a cage front. Once I was finally able to get a dog I was told the 9 week old puppy was neutered, she didn’t have a cone and they charged me $500, and forced me to buy a $13 leash and a collar even though they told me I cannot walk the dog to my car. handed her to me in a towel, and told me goodbye. 3 days later, her incision is leaking a translucent ooze from the site and bulging with a possibility of herniation. If you want to talk to anyone about adoption or any questions at all or even schedule a meet and greet their number does not connect you to a line due to them not accepting calls about adoptable pets at this time.
