I have such a hard time getting any kind of accurate information at this deprtment/phone number. Always. Every time I talk to someone they directly contradict what the last person says. They don't know the hours of operation. No one can confirm the calls they have received that very day. Trying to track down my deceased dog but no one knows where it went. Unless my dead dog got up and walked away.....more believable that this department having their ducks in a row.
Don’t bother calling if it’s about kittens or cats and you don’t want to be spoken to rudely and given zero additional assistance. Your call is routed to the sheriffs office, not the shelter or anyone who helps with stray injured kittens. Good luck out there, I’ve been calling all morning to find this poor baby kitten who can’t use its back legs help. Guadalupe county doesn’t care.
I have 2 stars because they have located a puppy of mine, however we live in a very country area with a dead end road and it is a hot spot for frequent animal drop offs. We had a dog that was in terrible shape rilunning around for quite some time. I finally got ahold of her and gave her a much needed bath that night and called animal control the next day. The older gentlemen came out to the house, was very rude with a "screw this job" demeanor, and treated me like I was lying and said "for future reference, if you give a dog a bath, it's yours from now on, look up texas law" I was floored, because I was just trying to find this dog a safe landing and he made it very difficult to hand her over.
This place is the most useless animal shelter on the face of the planet. It is almost as if the people that work there are only there for a paycheck and not to genuinely help animals. We have some friends who have a neglective neighbor who has not been taken care of his dog, letting it sit outside in 30° weather and not really feeding it on a daily basis either. The only reason the dog is still alive today is because our friends keep feeding it through the fence. This animal shelter repeatedly tries to reassure us that the dog is well taken care of, without spending a single second going out there to see for themselves that it in fact is not. Utterly useless individual.
They called me back with the information I requested. They were very respectful and courteous.
If you have the heart to save a life do it. Every puppy deserves a good home.
