We had the best experience with the shelter. I first went and got little Banjo (white). Then, we went back 2 weeks later and got Corndog (black &white). Everyone was so helpful. I am still in contact with the ladies from the Humane Society.

Very clean, and it looks like a brand new facility! Walking in you feel like you’re visiting family, because the staff is so laid back and welcoming! I appreciate the thorough vetting process! The adoption process was very seamless and easy! We are so in love with our new baby! And so excited for the adventure with our new addition!

I picked my newest member of my family last week a Labahoula. ( labrador retriever/ Calahoula leopard dog! The staff did a wonderful job with these puppies. My puppy is definitely spoiled, and used to attention. I have a 2yr old lab Shepherd mix. He needed a friend so we were able to get a lab Calahoula mix and the two are already best friends! My gentle giant loves his new little brother. And cannot wait for him to get bigger. I would definitely recommend The Humane Society. there were six puppies left, they were only 10 weeks old. And the Humane Society has lots of animals. It’s a win-win you save a annimal and they save you.!!

My husband and I adopted a chihuahua mix puppy and named him Tank. He has been such a great addition to our family and to our other dog Daisy.

I got my very first dog from here! I adopted Ferris (now named Alaska, or Allie for short), and I love her to bits! I found her through Adopt-a-Pet, and after inquiring about her on there I was reached out to not long after! Despite what some of these reviews might say, these people DO care about their animals. I was taken by surprise when I found out that the adoption fee not only covered the adoption itself, but all of the necessary vaccinations, spay, heartworm prevention AND flea/tick prevention. On top of all that, the adoption fee was on the cheaper side than most rescue/shelters these days, which goes to show they care more about these animals finding homes than the money. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because as you soon as you walk into this place, it REEKS. Like, a bit more than it should, but I know that the unfortunate reality is that a lot of shelters/rescues these days don't have enough help, so this is unfortunately the result. If they had just a bit more help, I know that would improve, so if you're looking to volunteer, please consider helping this place! Also, I was surprised to find that they let some animals just roam free around the place, so they're not always holed up in their kennel, which I thought was nice, but I think they should keep a closer eye on them! But I'm assuming (and hoping) that the ones they let roam around are the ones they know won't run off or something. I still definitely recommend this place, because despite what I mentioned before, they will answer any questions you have, and make sure you know everything you need to know when it comes to adopting and taking care of your new friend. They also supplied me with a can of the food they were giving Allie (Pedigree—ew...) to help her transition to her new food (because yes, they do recommend a brand better than Pedigree, even though that's what they give them), as well as a bunch of puppy pads! They also give you a paper copy of your adopted pet's health records, as well as multiple other papers with useful information. I even got a free doggy bandana! Also, unless you're going during their visitation hours, which is just a few hours a couple days out of the week, you must have an appointment! This is because they're dedicating all of the rest of their time and attention to take care of these animals, which I seriously respect. Just brace your nose when you walk in, and watch out for any loose dogs or cats! 😅

The Humane Society of Northwest Georgia is truly a special place, and such an important fixture in our community. My husband just went through the adoption process to get our first dog together, Milo, and it was such a positive experience. Debbie was in charge of reviewing our application, and it was clear from start to finish that she loves the dogs here and wants what is best for them. She asked all the important questions, and even provided very helpful advice for young pet owners like us. We could not be more grateful!
