Description F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Horse Rescue & Sanctuary is a nonprofit 501(C)3 organization that was established in 1987 to rescue & offer sanctuary to all horses that we accept. We are Broward County Florida's oldest and largest rescue and only sanctuary. We are the only organization in the State of Florida that will accept every horse testing positive for EIA on the Coggins Test. By accepting these Unwanted Horses, we save them from abuse, neglect, abandonment & slaughter. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. does not buy, sell, trade or give away horses. Instead, we offer them a lifetime of sanctuary so they will never need help again. Our priority is to prevent the needless destruction of horses. We also offer the community various hands-on, interactive, learning programs.

My experience as a volunteer has been truly fulfilling. The commitment of the sanctuary to saving and caring for these magnificent animals is evident in every aspect of their operation. The sanctuary's primary focus on horse rescue is admirable, providing a safe haven for horses that may have faced neglect, abuse, or other challenging circumstances. The dedication of the staff and volunteers to the well-being of these animals is palpable, creating a loving and supportive environment. One of the standout features of F.R.I.E.N.D.S is the opportunity for volunteers to actively participate in the daily care of the horses. The hands-on experience not only allows for a deeper connection with these animals but also contributes to their overall well-being. The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to share information, making the volunteering experience both educational and enjoyable.

Debbie and many generations of her family have put their hearts and souls into saving not just coggins positive horses but all kinds of challenging to place farm animals. As if the restrictions aren't hard enough, they have had to fight tooth and nail EVERY SINGLE DAY to be able to provide secure shelter for these animals in a county more interested in the wealthy than of the stewards. Please take note, all who have rated lower due to the HARD WORK and or unenthusiastic teenage volunteers.. The family who cares for these animals get NO BREAKS from working, fundraising, and worrying over money, the County, the next fat cat with money who wants their land, etc. Without this family these animals would be slaughtered. So kudos to all who will at least try to step up to the challenge, and GOD BLESS ALL WHO STICK WITH IT. All animals deserve F.R.I.E.N.D.S.!!!!

I was a member of Friends for 9 years and adopted a horse there - and I loved him dearly until the day he passed at 32 years old. Debbie Beye has devoted her life to this ranch and the well being of these beautiful horses, pigs, goats and deserves an award for her tireless efforts as an animal advocate. She is the most dedicated lady I know when it comes to animal rights and has followed in her grandmother's footsteps to carry out her wishes to keep this ranch going since the 70's. There should be more people in the world like Debbie - she is truly one of a kind.

Great place to bring your kids made them be outdoors activities, learn to protect the ambient. I have been involved with this wonderful non profit since high school. The work that these volunteers do to ensure the well being of these horses and animals is extraordinary. I would encourage anyone who is interested to volunteer their time or donate if possible.

My wife and I had the opportunity to volunteer at this absolutely amazing no kill rescue. Many hearts and energies make this shelter a perfect place to volunteer and to see how happy and healthy these creatures can be through their ENTIRE natural life cycle. Thank you so much for the time and dedication invested.
