The best vet I have ever been to. My red eared slider had a respiratory infection/stopped eating and due to the emergency I took her to Tufts emergency hospital. I was given antibiotics and pain medications and they were great but I didn't feel I got enough advice. I decided to visit the odd pet vet knowing the experience Dr. Mertz has and him and the facility exceeded my expectations. Dr. Mertz is incredible and his knowledge and love for animals shows when he treats your pet. He was able to teach me the right way to inject her medications and even made sure she was fed during the visit. We were welcomed to explore the facility and visit the animals downstairs. They also have an amazing exhibit upstairs with history and models and photos of animals they have rescued. Even if you don't have a pet you need to get in to see the exhibit! I can't express how pleased I am with the odd pet vet as well as Dr. Mertz and his team! Just an amazing place and I can't wait to return! ❤️
I trust this place with my whole heart. My little girl, Ellie, has been here for surgeries. The staff are so attentive and friendly the moments of my own nervousness for my little rat. They called right before they put her under anaesthesia I was so impressed and thankful for them. (Ellie is doing great btw) I trust them with all tiny paws
UPDATE: we had a second visit and I’m throughly convinced my lizard wants Dr. Fournier to be her new mom because she is definitely her favorite person! Dr. Fournier really knows what she’s talking about when it comes to reptiles, which is very reassuring, as many vets are not well-versed in these types of animals so it’s always nerve-wracking finding a vet that you trust to know enough to treat them appropriately. I’d definitely recommend her! She’s knowledgeable, personable, and as you can see from the picture of the vet giving my lizard cuddles during her visit, my beloved tegu is a huge fan too! Not to mention, they do not nickel and dime people and are not looking for problems to treat just to get more money, which is always nice. I was genuinely expecting to spend at least $300-$400 to fix the problem my lizard had, and it ended up being less than 100 because was not as sick as I thought she was. Thank goodness! She could’ve easily convinced me to pay hundreds of dollars because I would genuinely do ANYTHING for this lizard, but I’m glad she was honest instead.
This is probably the first time I’ve left a review without being there, but upon calling, Marianne was beyond helpful. I have a turtle that I inherited a little over a year ago that hadn’t been eating, and was dormant for several days. When we connected earlier in the day, my turtle wasn’t leaving the basking platform and still was not eating. I was given helpful advice and resources until they call back to confirm an appointment. When I got a call back in the evening, my turtle had resumed eating lettuce and pellets and beginning to come more active and not showing any of the signs I was told to look out for. White I ended up canceling the appointment, I certainly know who to call next time a concern arises.
I can't believe I've never left a review before... These guys are amazing, I've been bringing all my reptiles here (I have A LOT) as needed for multiple yrs now. Dr. Mertz and Dr. Ganaway are the most amazing and knowledgeable people, and I trust them w all my animals lives.
I brought my baby bearded dragon here for his first wellness check. I couldn’t have been more impressed, the staff is extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The facility is really cool well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive
