Horrible experience, do not bring your pet here please. Last Friday we arrived at the hospital at 9am. Our dog couldn’t walk move her legs at all, within 30mins of being there our dog was shoved in the back possibly in a cage and a bill was shoved in our face. The vet had no conclusion as to what was wrong with the dog , she gave us 3 possibilities. 1 - bone damage - 2 nerve damage 3 - cancerous tumor .. the Vet told us the dog has to stay for 2-3 days and that a specialist would see here that same day and MRI done next morning if needed. The bill as explained by the Vet was for what may or may not be needed and it was for $4,600 to possibly $14,000 with the minimum deposit being $4,600. My mother apply for their credit options and was denied, after hours of being there she was able leave a $2,600 cash deposit. They accepted the deposit, and we were told we can leave. 15 mins later we were called and told to come right back because the vet wanted to talk to us, so we rushed back to the hospital. Now everything changed, the Vet now said the specialist wasn’t available and that we needed to make an appointment for 2-3 weeks to see the specialist. Now the vet also said we couldn’t leave the dog there cause we didn’t meet the full deposit. And that they couldn’t do MRI until the specialist saw the dog. By 4pm in the afternoon we were told to take our hurt dog back home and that they would give her a steroid shot to help her move a bit. Then they couldn’t give us our cash deposit back , said they would send a check next week. At this point I lost my patience and demanded our cash back, they said our deposit was put into a safe and they couldn’t get it back. They scraped up $1,900 in mainly 20s and singles … and I was told they would call next day to refund the rest. It is now Tuesday 4 days later , I have called several times no one wants to talk to me , I left voice mails no one has called back .. they haven’t given us the full refund still. So after 7 hrs of being in that hospital all they really cared for was the money … our dog spent 7hrs in a cage unable to move her chest was red one of her paw was red … my mother had not slept all night… the emotional stress sent her into depression and dehydration from all the crying. Our dog still in pain , still can’t move … please don’t bring your dog here.
Oradell seems a place place where you love it or you hate it, so far they've done good by me with a few of my dogs, they're more than a vet. They're an animal hospital. They're there all the time. And each time I went There with my dog. They were very thorough and checking them out to see what the issue was. One complaint is they seem to always fall back on its arthritis or might be arthritis. When they don't know that's what they tell you. Very friendly. Plenty of parking. Open 24 hours. Make sure you bring your checkbook because they're not cheap. They have their own pharmacy which I have found is not cheaper than going to some other stores to get the medicine. Just more convenient and convenience cost.
I brought my beloved husky Meeko in early Friday morning for an emergency visit. It was my first experience with the team and the hospital. Despite the heartbreaking outcome for Meeko and my family, who had an extremely hard time coping with the loss of our baby, I was amazed by the professionalism and compassion everyone had. From the front desk to all the support staff and doctors, you made us feel the humanity and genuine care from all of you. I cannot describe in words how much we appreciate you. Thank you, Dr. Lee and everyone, for your support and care. I’m sorry I didn’t catch all of your names.
Thank you to Dr Higgins and Dr Kochi. Oradell was amazing with our 7 y/o golden. We were at VEG the night before and they totally missed the signs and didn’t perform the fast scan that my pup Georgia needed to diagnose the fluid around her heart. Oradell took my baby in right away for lethargy, difficulty breathing, weakness and vomiting, she was barely able to walk. I appreciated that they were looking at the symptoms in front of them- VEG said it wasn’t necessary when I was pushing for ultrasound because of her trouble breathing and walking because her pulse was normal at the time. Oradell saw the signs immediately and brought her back straight away. We received a devastating diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma, a metastasized tumor on the heart - but I could not be more thankful to Dr Higgins in the ER department, who had amazing bedside manner while updating us on Georgias condition but was also worked very hard to secure Georgias echocardiogram and pericardiocentesis on an extremely busy day. Also huge thank you to Dr Kochi , we did not meet her but I know she was essential in Georgias diagnosis and her treatment. The entire team had amazing bedside manner and compassion from the front desk, nurses and all the doctors and tech, and I’m so thankful. I had a discussion with Dr Higgins about the likelihood of this bleeding occurring again, the seriousness of this diagnosis and I appreciate that she was upfront with me. She was able to navigate the sensitive nature of the diagnosis but deliver all of the information I needed. After we were discharged, I had a few questions about medication side effects and end of life care and I really appreciated her time to take my call. We had an amazing weekend with Georgia and she crossed the rainbow bridge before suffering through another hemorrhage. These photos were taken the day before she passed. I would never choose another hospital- if you have an emergency, come to Oradell and skip VEG, there are specialists, more access to testing and equipment. You’ll end up paying similar fees anyhow.
We just wanted to Thank Oradell Animal Hospital for the exceptional treatment of our Cat Newey. A special thanks to Dr. Soderman for diagnosising our Newey's 2 month long upper respiratory symptoms. Which ended up being Nasal Carcinoma. Its been a long journey, we are thankful for Dr. Soderman for her persistents and honesty with Newey's condition. We want to thank her for referring us to AERA hospital where Newey is getting her radiation treatment to help with her recovery. The process from Valley Cottage Animal Hospital to Oradell Animal Hospital then to AERA Animal Hospital has been truly helpful. We give them all 5 star recommendations. They all exhibited professionalism and compassion for our beautiful cat, our daughter. Thank you so much for all you have done and all that you do not only for Newey but for all animal! Again Thank You!!! -The Lake Family
I brought my 12yo pitbull into the ER for an abdominal mass last week, knowing in my heart we weren’t walking out. The technicians, vet and even the receptionists were so kind to us throughout the process. They were able to stabilize my girl and let us have one more night at home together. I will forever be grateful for their stellar care and compassion. I still can’t remember the vets name, but thank you Rugars dad. You made the worst day bearable with your kindness.
