We adopted Max our lab/golden retriever mix fromPraireland when he was 12 weeks old. Judy and her staff were very knowledgeable with their background in veterinary. I even called her several times with questions. When Max was old enough we took him back to Praireland to be neutered. The staff took excellent care of him. At the time we adopted him my kids were 3,10 and 14. He was a wonderful sweet family dog. Sadly enough we lost Max several months ago to Lymphoma, he was 12 years old. I am so grateful to Praireland for rescuing him and bringing him to us . We would definitely adopt from them again. Thanks Praireland!!!

Not honorable practices here. We were denied a cat because someone called for the cat we were applying for an hour before we did even though we filled out the application first. A Prairieland volunteer even gave us his word he’d let Judy (the owner) know we were first to apply for her. My 5 year old is crushed as we left Petsmart in Champaign with a name already picked out! Avoid this place if you don’t want heartache! Unfortunately for the animals in her charge, I will never adopt from here. So sad and just flat out unacceptable!

We recently adopted a cat from here and we were delighted at how streamlined the process was, and how fast after applying we were able to take him home (only one nerver wracking day after we applied and called, as we were told to). The workers really seemed to care for the animals under their care, and want to make sure they went to the most suitable home for their specific needs. So we felt like we weren't just handed a cat but genuinely considered as the best option for a home he had.
