I have been using Healthy Paws for 18 years now. I haven't seen Dr. Steve in a while but the other Doctors are all great. Caring staff, reasonable prices, good hours, I cannot complain. I have had many dogs go through their doors and I have been pleased with their care. All of the staff really care about your furry family member as if they were their own. When I picked up my girl from a few day vacation (boarding) she was excited to see me but I could tell she bonded with the staff. The gentleman that was taking care of her was sad to see her go. Even when you have to say the final goodbye as much as is possible the staff make it easier. They are very respectful. As I said my oldest has been with them since they were next door to the pet shop east of where they are now. I moved out of state but on a visit home she got sick, I called them and they said bring her in. They took care of her as they always did. When I moved back if course I brought my pack to them for their care. My dogs go their when my parents had dogs they went their. Love you guys at Healthy Paws.
Dr. dobson is a great vet. I’m sure other vets there are great. Also Kim is a great receptionist. I’ve known her for a long time the whole staff is great. I never had a problem at healthy paws in Belleville. The technicians are great. A picture of Buddy , my beautiful German Shepherd, and me
I will start by saying I do not write reviews. I am very balanced and understanding and know we are living in a time where things are backwards and cost way more than they should. I typically let things go. My favorite phrase is "It is what it is!". I have been taking my dog to Healthy Paws Vet for 15 years. I purchased my dog from Westland Pet Supply when she was a puppy and when Healthy Paws was located next door (they have since moved down the street). Obviously my dog is a senior citizen now. My last visit to this vet in May 2024, will be my final visit (no the dog is still alive and in good health at the time of this review!). I am not going to complain about the hour wait time after my visit started. What I am going share is my experience for a scheduled annual check up. As mentioned I have been coming to this vet for 15 years. At no point previous to the last check up, was I asked by the nurse if I THOUGHT I should get certain booster shots? My simple reply was that "I do not know! You are the service provider. That's why I am here. To have YOU tell me what shots she needs!?". The vet then comes in 15 minutes later to exam my dog for less then 5 minutes and seemed rushed to leave the room as quickly as possible, before I was able to ask all of the questions I had. I then had to tell the nurse when they came to take my dog back for her shots, that the vet needed to examine her ears as she did not do it when she came in. It turned out she had a severe ear infection that needed to be treated. After the visit I was presented a $1,000+ bill, which included meds. This was about $300 more then I paid last year for the same services and meds. Upon examining the bill I was being charged a higher amount because she was a senior dog. In addition, they had removed all loyalty discounts (15 years I have been coming here!) I had been receiving since I she was puppy, which was part of the deal I got from purchasing my dog. I drive an hour out of my way just to receive these discounts! When asked why this was, the receptionist said corporate now owns the vet and has done away with all discounts! That would have been a nice letter/notification to receive before I drove out and had the services performed! The cherry on top and reason why I am writing this review. When I said "it is what it is" and went to pay, they indicated that in order to use a credit card there would be a 3% charge for using a credit card! I felt like this was a punch in the face! This place is only here to Nickle and Dime you. I used to think this place was great and was very happy. I will no longer be taking my animals here. The lack of interest in care for my pet and complete disregard of communication and transparency of "Corporate changes" is unacceptable. I am not even very confident that the staff is qualified or interested in providing the proper examination services. They are rushed and it comes off as: here is 5 minutes of services give me every penny in your pocket. The fact that I had to tell the vet to look in my dogs ears is unbelievable (I AM NOT A VET - DO YOUR JOB!). Shame on you. I anticipate that if this continues, there will be another empty building on Ford rd. As such, I would not recommend going to this vet anymore, as it is now being run as a corporation franchise aimed more at draining your wallet than providing care for your loved pet.
This has got to be the most unorganized business I’ve ever experienced . From the start they mixed my pet symptoms up with another animal. They told me to bring a fecal sample in then never tested it. Had to ask them to test it and they replied “ you brought one in”? So they ended up testing it. I asked them to email me they never did. Their reply was oh you didn’t get it? Then they said to call back because it was positive and to call. I called and they said to come pick up the meds. I show up and they say they don’t have them ready because I didn’t call. Why would I show up asking for a medicine? This place is mass confusion. Very unprofessional . Def will never be coming back or referring this vet to clients.
Went here yesterday was shocked by what happened appointment was at 12 one of the front desk workers walked me into the room waited over 35 minutes just for them to come and say sorry we didn’t know if your cat was a cat or dog I seriously think they need to get their eyes checked. After my normal check up with my cat which they proceeded to tell me nothing had some random girl come in the room and just start showing me a bill of $300 with all these random vaccines and stuff I never asked for or was performed she’s like yeah well start these now I’m like I didn’t agree to this stuff and she’s like yeah if we can just start these now . Wouldn’t reccomend at all they are very money hungry
Where to begin? Made appointment for our pups yearly check up fantastic had appointment for 3:30PM Monday afternoon got to vet (Westland office) Let the staff know he was rambunctious and was told to stay in car and would be told when room was available what?? I have an appointment so there should be a room but ok we sat in car 85 degree heat no call half an hour goes by so we left the dog was burning up with the air on I was hot and as we were driving down road guess what we get a call room ready ooopppps to late no Im not turning around after waiting 1/2 hour so when got home called to tell them why we left and all the girl said is "Oh I'm sorry " not as sorry as we were for wasting our time baking out in your parking lot ! And then had the nerve to ask if we would like to reschedule LOL no no thank you will not be back ! Reading some of the reviews I see we are not alone in taking business elsewhere !!
