The cat adoption staff were accurate in describing the personality of the 19 year old I decided to adopt. Their description was that the 19 year old was "a sweet granny. That was not apparent during my introductory visit s. However since she joined me in my home I discovered that they were right. She is affectionate, follows me around and is a delightful companion. The OAHS over the years has consistently paired me with wonderful animals who have given me years of joy. I trust them 100%.
Contrary to your response to my original review... You NEVER offered to show us any cats that were declawed. We absolutely would have looked at them, if you had. You scolded us for even entertaining the thought of frontal declawing. Yet, our vet has no issues with it, other shelters have no issues with it, you don't care if the household has smokers in it. You don't ask if there is any drug use in the home, etc... Your policy is terrible. This may be why you have SO MANY CATS! Will you kill them, if you can't find them a suitable home? Ask the cat... go to a loving family, with no front knuckles, or die? Which do you think you would choose?
Awesome people, adopted a senior cat named Alice & we love her. She is adjusting well, sleeping w/ us the last 3 nights, very playful, & an excellent addition to our home.
They helped us find miss mocha and she has been the perfect addition to our family.very friendly caring staff so happy these amazing people take such care with all of the animals who come in. I hope that they can continue to bring families closer . ( yes to me animals are not pets they are family) when we first adopted her we were told her name was Mindy which is a real cute name read the previous owners info and it said her name was mocha. I read it out loud and she started chirping head held high as she was proud of the name. She has become a cage mate and sister to our squeaks and is actually helping the other piggies get along better together. Mocha truly is a blessing and glad we found her.
It is obvious how much they care about the placement of forever homes. They understand the needs of both the family adopting and the needs of the pet to have a happy home. As it should be.
We got Amable here in February 2021. I really enjoyed the class tat they had each person take before taking the pet home. As a first time cat owner it was a very helpful class!
