I adopted my MJ girl in the beginning of December. They supposedly did the initial check up, shots, and spay. They told me she was just a calm kitten but she ended up getting very sick about a month ago. I took her to the emergency vet and it turns out she had a grade 4-5/6 heart murmur. How was this not found in the initial check-up? My sweet girl passed away today. Do better.

I attempted to adopt a kitten from Paws and was led through the ringer with no updates. I reached out multiple times and fixed any mistakes within minutes of an email from the “volunteer.” The volunteer I spoke to, Bridgette, was extremely rude to me. When I went in almost a week after applying, the kitten I applied for was gone. When I contacted Bridgette and expressing my heartbreak, it was the quickest response I had gotten to date. Attached is a screenshot of the last email she sent before I blocked her. I appreciate volunteers, but if you aren’t committed to giving a cat a good home or don’t have enough time, then don’t volunteer. And if the kitten was sick, why was I not notified sooner? It also concerns me that they leave cats out in the middle of aisles where dogs harass them. If this organization cares about cats, why leave them in a high traffic area where they will get sick? I would not recommend trying to adopt through this organization, they don’t care about the wellbeing of these poor cats. I’m not even sure why Paws is still an organization.

I adopted an older kitten in the winter of 2018. Though PAWS tests for feline leukemia, and they said it was negative, she had it. We took her to the ER twice and after a $1,000 vet bill we had to put her down a couple months after her adoption. The PAWS rep was empathetic and told me when I was ready I could adopt a new one free of charge. With her death I was devastated and it took me about a month or two to go back to Petsmart to look again. When I told my rep which one I was interested in, she told me that I would be charged and that I only had a small amount of time to pick another one. Really??? PAWS, I HOPE you have changed this policy since then.

This organization is amazing and does so much good for the community. They have changed the lives of over 20 cats in my area and do so much behind the scenes that people take for granted. When you adopt from them you are adopting cats that had no hope before PAWS saved them. Can’t recommend this organization enough!

I can understand having to be strict to ensure safety of the animals when it comes to applications. I was denied giving a poor cat who’s been stuck in at petsmart for months because I didn’t have previous shot records for a cat I took in 6 years ago( who already had been fixed with all shots when we took her in from a family who couldn’t re home with animals) ...even though my vet made it obvious to them that we are currently up to date on all shots and made sure to visit with any illness. Even the vets office found this unusual...We are very upset with this organization and now we see why they have so many animals. Sad. I find it horrible how they would choose to keep an animal in a glass cage all day over a clean, loving home, all over shot records that couldn’t be researched from years ago. We even offered them to come check out our home and all the animals if it would help the situation..nope...just a straight denial. We are currently dealing with another adoption agency and have had no issues. I just hope the cat we fell in love with finds a good home soon so he doesn’t spend another 6 months on display. I appreciate anyone helping animals, but that to me is wrong, hopefully you might have a better experience.

This organization does alot for our community and our an awesome resource when needing help or advice. Thanks for being available to the public and of course for all that you do for these animals! You truly make a difference in such a needy world.
