Description Dr. Ken “Doc” Moody started Sylvan Veterinary Hospital as a mixed animal practice out of a little farmhouse in 1972. Doc’s desire was to provide great veterinary care to the surrounding dairy and horse community. Doc Moody retired in 1999 turning over the reins to Dr. Kipp Magnussen. Sylvan Veterinary Hospital continued to grow its reputation as a one of the premier veterinary hospitals in Stanislaus county. By 2006, SVH had completely outgrown it hospital and a new modern facility with new technologies were added to provide state of the art services in veterinary care for the community. At that time, Dr. Tiffany Hart and Ms. Vicky Shackelford partnered with Dr. Magnussen to help build one of the finest, veterinary hospitals in the area

I was referred here by another vet hospital that didn’t have any appointments left for the day. I own 4 pugs and if you own one then you know they can be little race cars when they’re young. I noticed that my oldest who is 4 was walking like he was drunk, his tail stopped curling and his balance was really off. I googled what it could be and spent the rest of the evening crying. There is no way I could afford treatment let alone a spine surgery that would be $8-10,000 my heart was broken as this was my baby. He was with me during my darkest moments and now I need to be there for his. I spent all night googling different vets reading ALL of the reviews both on Google and yelp. I almost to him to UC Davis! I came across a vet that had good reviews an finally called, they had no appointments but asked if I had tried Sylvan pet hospital, I read the reviews and they were pretty good ( nobody will have perfect reviews) they had a urgent care opening. When I arrived it was a very nice hospital inside an out. I thought this is gonna be expensive. Everyone was so nice. The check in was easy and the the young lady was very kind. We were called into the room and greeted by another smiling face who did vitals. A few moments later Dr. Hart came in. She was so nice and had the best personality, she to owned a pug which made me even more comfortable. She treated my fury baby with so much compassion and gave me honest answers. Did not try to push unnecessary treatments and listened and responded to what I was asking. It was a great experience. The price was reasonable and even though he may not have the greatest outcome ( he hurt his back and has ataxia) and put on 10 days of medication and bed rest. She made no promises. But my experience was awesome and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a good and honest vet. I went home and told everyone who has a pet about my experience. It was great, thank you team at Sylvan pet hospital!!!! We now have a new vet and will be taking all my dogs here from now on.
I've been bringing Henry (our 13 year old dog) to Sylvan afor 8 years. He hated the vet so our visits were very anxious. Dr. Hart sat on the floor with him feeding him treats and talking to him the first visit. After that he wasn't as anxious and now I think he actually likes seeing Dr. Hart. All the staff are compassionate, helpful, and knowledgable. Can't imagine going anywhere else.
I have been taking my animals to Sylvan Vet for many years, front office staff are always very friendly and efficient. Dr. Hart is hands down the best! The way she interacts with my dog, she gets on the floor to talk to him and check him out, for whatever my concern I so appreciate it. She truly loves animals and cares about them, never in a hurry answers all questions, I can’t praise her enough.
Everyone here is super nice and understanding, very patient. The front desk is quick and knows their stuff. They are caring for my pup right now and he loves going. The rooms are clean and waiting room is clean, they offer great products at a good price.
Worst service ever…had an appointment today at 1:30pm…waited 40 minutes without anyone coming over to us after we checked in. It was just for annual vaccination. 6 people came in after us…all were waited on as we sat. One was a walk in with a cat to be scanned for a microchip. They were seen right away. We finally went to the counter and asked why and were told one of the vets had an emergency and was running an hour late. We should have been told this instead of being ignored. That would be an almost 2 hour wait since we already were waiting 40 minutes past our appointment….one lady waited 20 minutes at the counter to pay and no one came to the counter during that time. Finally when they did, they told her to wait outside with her dog. Plenty of places inside to sit and 95 degrees outside……needless to say, we won’t be taking our dogs there again. I’m sure there are plenty of vets in Modesto that treat their patients a whole lot better
I was moving 1 dog and 2 cats to Hawaii. The staff was very helpful and patient with all of my questions and concerns. Dr Chelsey Benedix was great in insuring all the paperwork was done correctly and, the pets were able to make the move. I highly recommend them for all of your pets needs. thanks for all of your help and support.
