Awful, awful. Awful. Instead of 5 stars, there should be a 5 Awfls rating We found a dog that was dumped and it took a lot to gain it's trust so once it did, naturally it bonded to my wife in just a few days. We tried to find it a home but couldn't and we were leaving town so we had no choice but to take it here. Kudos to them for making my wife feel even more horrible than she already did and passing judgment on her for trying to do the decent thing. They made her feel like she was trying to get rid of the family pet because the dog didn't want to stay there Why do people like that always end up working at places like this? Please get a job somewhere with no human interaction with above all else, no contact with these poor animals Awful, Awful, awful.
We found a puppy in Fayette county without any tags and couldn't just leave him wandering the roads. Took him to a vet, no chip. Took him here and they said because my ID is for Coweta County they can't take him and to call Coweta County. I call Coweta County and they said if he was found in Fayette County the owners wouldn't look for him in Coweta, so they couldn't take him and Fayette needed to take him. I call them back and they basically said too bad in so many words. Now I'm stuck with a puppy who may never find his home and run the risk if getting kicked out of where we're staying since we aren't the kind of awful people that would dump a puppy somewhere. Makes me never want to help a stray again, sadly.
The staff was very helpful. Initially was interested in one dog but adoption was delayed due to having to reschedule his vet appointment. I brought my older dog in to make sure they were compatible during the delay. The staff kept me informed during the process. Ultimately wound up adding two to my pack!
Staff is wonderful! They are kind and love the animals. I volunteer here at least twice a week with the cats socializing them, exercising them and just having fun.
We adopted our 2 cats and our sweet kalypso (german shephard)from this shelter. She was the sweetest and most protective dog. Sadly, we only had her a year due to having kidney issues. I'm not sure what the low reviews are about because the 3 times we have gone to adopt our furbabies, ALL of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Even helped ease kalypso into our car as she was very skittish at first. I believe what they do is amazing, and they can only do so much . I am sure they would love to take in all of the strays brought there, but they can't due to overcrowding and careless breeders. Keep up the great work, fayette County. We will see you soon, I am sure .
If I could give it zero stars I would!! my husband found a dog on the road that belongs to the county, they did not want to receive the dog because my husband did not have an ID from that county, they said he could not receive him and so they simply ignored him as If my husband was doing something wrong, how unprofessional thinking it is an animal shelter, bad attitude from the staff, not friendly at all, that staff should be in another area where they are not in sight of the kind people who try to help the animals.
