Had a great experience adopting our sweet Benji-Meows from the Humane Society! The staff was super helpful and one had even fostered him before we adopted him! Will always recommend the Humane Society

The Bangor Humane Society is full of great staff that is knowledgeable and helpful. After rescuing some cats, we found out one of them was pregnant but we wouldn't be able to keep her kittens, and the Bangor Humane Society was able to take in the kittens on very short notice as well as spaying the previously pregnant cat for a very low price. They are life savers.

I recently adopted MoMo (now Charlie). I was very happy with my experience here. I found this place to be very clean and the animals appeared very clean & happy. Since bringing Charlie home, he has adapted very quickly to his new home. He is very loving & playful & I believe the love and care he received there has a lot to do with this! The staff are wonderful & very helpful. I expect Charlie & I to have a long and happy life life together! Thank you BHS!!!😻😻😻

My parents visited a few weeks ago and fell in love with a little girl who was recovering from being fixed. They were told that they had to look at the page daily because they did not hold animals and operated on a first come first serve basis. They have religiously been looking at the sites and calling every few days, however have only been able to get ahold of someone once. Today was the day the dog went online my dad jumped in his truck and drove from Eastport to Bangor and when he arrived the dog was still there, however the staff told him she was unavailable because they were holding her for someone. So what is your policy? Do you hold them or no? And if you do why not hold her while she was recovering and then when she was cleared send her home with them? Or if you don’t hold why was my dad told you were holding her? I’m waiting for a manager to call me back which will probably never happen..

Such a great place I get so sad when I see all the animals but LOVE seeing the little tags that say "I'm going home" happy to see so many actually being adopted!!❤ We just attended a reunion for the furr babies that came from Georgia our "GRACIE GIRL " came from there. We are SO THANKFUL to all whom were involved with her rescue we feel blessed to have her!!

I just love this place! The first thing you notice as soon as you open the door is the very clean smell. I have adopted 4 pets over the years from them and they give you a very generous package including shots, spay or neutet, etc which would cost way more than the adoption fee. They even get a vet exam before they leave. All pets are microchipped and you can or pass on its activation. The process is fairly wuick, but it seems like they really check if you and your pet make a good match. I highly recommend the Bangor Humane society.
