I wish I could give less than one star. I have always supported GBHS and even adopted from them in the past, but I am truly disappointed in their Animal Care and Control. I have rescued several dogs myself along Lakeshore because I’m told it is Birmingham and they don’t pickup in that area. I am then transferred to someone else that does not speak English enough to put in the report. GBHS asks for donations and support but the Care and Control center is failing. I believe that should be discussed on the news instead of appearances for donations because clearly it isn’t helping with picking up animals. The Snow Drive location is right next to Lakeshore but instead civilians, like myself, are having to attempt to get these dogs and drive them to Animal Care and Control near the airport. Make it make sense?There shouldn't be a news story involved for an animal to be cared for enough to get up, get in the van, and pick up.

Had an adult stray malnourished male dog show up at my home, I cared for him for about 4 days, which proved to be more than I wanted to fool with, surrendering him to the airport humane location was such a pleasant experience. Easy peasy.

There’s some amazing people here with amazing hearts. However their receptionists and people who work the desk lack compassion. The HEROES in charge of intake have hearts of gold. Thank you for what you did for Tony.

You go through the process of adopting an animal, and when they tell you to bring them back if you need to, they are lying! We tried to, but they said it would cost you money... clearly, if we are trying to bring the animal back, we don't have money!!!

Surrendered a stray cat and they were so rude and unprofessional, didn't seem to care about the cat at all but they were so nice to the guy who paid them for something and I even donated food but the woman completely ignored me. If I had known it would have been like that I would have driven an hour just to go to Jasper to surrender her because at least then I'd know she'd be cared for, these people will treat you like trash if you don't give them money. Wish I could give 0 stars, I don't recommend.

Hopefully the animal control officers were FIRED for taking someone’s cat off of their porch . Disgusting and cruel behavior . Lured someone’s cat and took it to a HIGH KILL SHELTER . SCREW YALL!
