Description Exciting News! Our ER is Officially Open! We are now Puget Sound Veterinary Specialty & Emergency (PSVSE)! Our new facility is located at 6565 Kimball Drive in Gig Harbor. As a reminder, we will initially offer 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Diagnostic Imaging. All other specialty services (Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dentistry and Oral Surgery) will remain at the Port Orchard location (1730 Pottery Ave) until our move is completed in 2023.
Sound Dog Connection
I have been to the Gig Harbor location several times, once for an emergency, on Christmas day! They were fabulous with my nervous dog. Dr Brenna and the neurology team are the BEST. Dennis is calm and efficient. Dr Brenna takes time to explain things and answer questions.

Love and highly recommend this place! We called and told them the problems my cat Dumps was experiencing and the receptionist said to bring him in immediately. As soon as we got there we got checked in and they took him back within 10 minutes. They were very communicative, kind, and so patient. Our kitty stayed overnight and they called with updates and even said we could call whenever for an update. When we called for updates they let us know everything from how he was eating, peeing, pooping, behavior, EVERYTHING! The staff here are phenomenal and clearly go above and beyond for our furry family members AND owners. Thank you to PSVS and their entire staff for taking care of my baby!

Quite literally the best emergency vet experience I’ve ever had and we’ve had a few. We have a cat with reoccurring urethral crystals, he developed a complete blockage a very terrifying emergency. In a very stressful scary situation they offered compassion and understanding. They helped us with multiple finances options and just went above and beyond with genuine empathy for my cat. He ended up needing a surgery to address his problems, I got in depth updates and calls from each doctor taking care of my baby boy. I will never go to any other emergency department again. Thank you so much to your team and compassionate care.

I wanted to give a few shout outs to the wonderful care our pittie, Brutus, received last night. DR Baer, veterinarian assistant Erin, the front desk receptionist Sam, and i believe the other tech was Christine (or Krista, I'm so sorry I didn't quite catch her name but she was fantastic!) were all lovely people that truly helped Brutus feel better and got the girlfriend and my worries down from 10 to a 1. Brutus is a rescue we found running pac highway last year and we're still learning pure blood pitties are allergic to everything under the sun and yesterday he had a terrible flare up. He wasn't eating, running nose, lethargic, just worrisome. We got in late last night and Sam was very pleasant and had a very nice energy that I don't think she knew how calming that was (and much appreciated). We get the pup checked in when Christine (Krista? God I feel terrible not catching her name) got Brutie's vitals. Her tone of voice was just excited to see him and in the last two days, that was the first time he wagged his tail! We get into the exam room and veterinarian assistant Erin was so energetic with Brutie and loved on him and was super knowledgeable about what was going on. The vet, Dr Baer, came in to tell us about Brutus. She was calm, collective, and so smooth with checking him out that brutie didn't even know that while she was loving on him she was also checking his teeth (Brutus doesn't usually like people getting close to his mouth but honestly, does anyone?). She gave him a big dose of steroids and antibiotics that the girlfriend and I felt so good and confident leaving that I knew I was going to give them a 5 star review. One of the best (If not the best), urgent care vets we've gone to. Highly recommend. Oh! I forgot! And the lobby and exam rooms were so clean and spacious, tons of room to move around.

The doctors and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The facility is clean and the waiting area is very comfortable (free coffee available). It was nice being able to fill out all the paperwork online ahead of time and get checked in virtually without having to wait there at the facility. The ability to see where I was in the queue whenever I wanted to was also helpful. They were having an especially busy day when I was there and one of the text messages estimated the wait time to be 6 to 8 hours. One of my few complaints is that this was never updated to reflect real-time status of events. At one point there were zero people in front of us in the queue. I thought it might be close to our time, but I never got a text message until several hours later that they were finally ready to see me. We didn't get the message that it was okay for us to come to the facility until about 9 hours after our initial check-in. Also, the front desk staff was asking me to fill out an additional form that was repetitive of the information I already filled out online. They started asking me a few questions about my visit, which again had already been filled out online. I was told they are working on removing these redundancies. Overall, I was pleased with the visit and the level of service our pet received, and the frequent text messages while our pet was being seen and my frequent in person updates by the staff for a very helpful and supportive.

Thank you for taking such good care of our beloved dog. She was having multiple seizures and they rushed her in and immediately did what they could do help her. We ultimately had to put her down here. We were provided a quiet, dim room and as much time with her as we wanted. They provided a bowl of treats for her and were incredibly nice. Thank you for your kindness and tender care toward our Kia girl.
