I do not even know where to start. Maybe at the conclusion. There is no surprise that very few shelter animals are getting adopted out and it overflowing with the way this place is run. It needs a complete management overhaul from top to bottom. It is shameful. The city of San Angelo can surely do better than this. My suggestion is to put together a committee of concerned citizens and research how a well run effective shelter works.

I love that the shelter if helping with animals and need and i would love to support it but my last experience was just shameful. Recently my last cat sprout went missing and has been missing for about two weeks. We’re convinced someone stole him or sadly he passed away. Mourning my loss i went back to the shelter inquiring about adopting another cat. I was told about their policy of waiting 3-6 months before adopting out again. That’s perfectly fine! I respect and understand the policy and I have no quarrels with it. But the staff that I talked to was so rude to me. She talked to me and my friend with condescension and acted as if Sprout still being lost was on us. She talked over us anytime she could, and said very rudely that we need to flag his chip and file a police report. I tried telling her that I did flag his chip and i tried filing a report but there wasn’t enough information. I continued to get talked over and judged. There are ways of informing people about your policies without being completely and utterly rude and disrespectful. I was and still am mourning my lost cat, and after that interaction I didn’t even want to try and adopt again. Your staff needs to watch how they talk to people.

I find it absolutely disgusting that I was approved to work at the shelter and care for the dogs there but when I put in an application to adopt I was denied because of a assault charge from 2008 that was dismissed against an abusive ex. You would rather stick a needle in a dog and kill them than to give them a chance to have a family and a happy life. Those poor animals!!! Sleep well at night knowing your about to kill 14 dogs rather than let people adopt them then you want to pitch sob stories to the public. You euthanize dogs because you want too! There is other options!!

Adopted kitten in 2017. Developed FIP. Supposedly nokill by 2020 but hasn't happened yet .Just called about a lost chipped cat but they have nothing on their phone tree regarding that. Critter Shack is a viable opportunity for adoption.

We got our Kona from here! Great to work with $150 for our dog, includes shots and getting her spayed as well! We got her at 6 weeks old and she is almost 4.5 months now! The staff was easy to work with and texted me when she was able to be picked up from her spaying appointment. Getting her shots were easy, I just walked in and they did them right there. Super quick and caring. So many dogs to choose from, please adopt!
