I brought my pet here and the experience was pretty great all around. Every time I've looked at scheduling an appointment I can usually find one about 10 days to 2 weeks out. Plus, some of their vets do hours that help for a 9-5 job. The vet tech was very nice and the vet listened to our concerns and offered reasonable paths forward to explore for treatment for our pet. May not be ideal if you have a pet emergency but if you are going for routine checkups or less urgent concerns it was a great option.
The care my pet receives here is unmatched. My vet is extremely knowledgeable and caring, and I always feel confident I’m receiving the best care for my pet. The problem is VCA never has open appointments, and waiting for the next available slot takes almost a month. This ensures you can't get in for semi-urgent care when a problem arises, leaving you scrambling to find another vet (which you'll have to transfer all your pet's documents to and pay an additional yearly exam for). The cancellation waitlist proves to never get you in sooner, either. Seeing VCA running promotions to gain MORE new clients is frustrating and tells me they do not value existing pets in their care. They need at least three times the amount of vets they currently have if they want to continue to expand their client base so aggressively. This animal hospital clearly is owned by a large corporation concerned only with maximizing profits. It's very disappointing. Also, I paid for 4 or 5 "yearly" exams in 2023. They love to charge you $132 for a 30-second run-over of your pet almost every appointment.
Terrible care and service. VCA's are horribly overpriced. Buxbaum is the worst vet I've ever had the displeasure to interact with. Usual wait time is 1-2 hours. I received a follow-up email to fill out an anonymous survey. Shortly after, I had a staff member text me directly to say my survey was unfair. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior.
This place was recommended to me and I am so happy with the care I have received here for my bunny. The front desk staff, assistants, and doctors are great. I am always in and out relatively quick. They take such good care of my bunny, and even showed me how to trim his nails. They even accommodated me for a last minute emergency visit on a Saturday. I also love that their hours accommodate my busy 9-6 work schedule! Highly recommend if you’re looking for an exotic vet!
NEVER leave your pet in their care! I was charged $141 for a 30 sec conversation where I was told nothing new and they dropped my cat in his crate upside down from 5 feet high in their care. Then refused to waive the $141 “consultation fee”. I have given $1000’s to this place for reasons that probably were not even valid. And they couldn’t honor a one time fee waiver for absolutely traumatizing my car AND me.
The actual doctors are good... but the way the office is run is the WORST thing I've ever experienced. After 11 years of being a client, the office has gotten so bad that I'm likely going elsewhere. Most of the time no one answers the phone, things never get approved on time (like px food your pet needs), you can never get a hold of anyone in pharmacy, and, more often than not, employees at the front desk don't seem to understand anything going on. I'd love to speak to the office manager any time about this. I see your reply below... I want a manager's name and number. Not an unmonitored inbox where you have people air their grievances and continue to leave them unaddressed.
