So I really appreciate this cafe, it gives temporary homes for kitties looking for adoption without them having to be in a cage at a shelter. That being said, I think the quality of care could be improved. The cats were a little dirty and their noses and eyes looked in rough shape. There was one worker/volunteer that was on his steam deck in the cat lounge and only got up to roughly pick up the cats. Cats are not toys, the way this person picked up and handled the cats was very concerning and I hope there will be some accountability. Like I said, the 3 stars are for the concept and I can tell that they care about the cats and getting them adopted. But there needs to be stricter training and discipline involved. Employees/volunteers should be working (not playing games) and maybe helping clean the area and the cats. They should also not be handling the cats so violently. Please address these issues for the sake of improving the quality of care for these cats.
I don’t live here, but my brother has some coupons for this place, and the cats are very cute and aren’t too shy. Good place to relax.
A friendly feline destination in downtown Lafayette, with cordial staff and a bright room of crepuscular kitties. The cats are sociable but sleepy depending on the personality and the time. You pay by the hour, which goes by fast, and can take water or soda into the cat room. Excellent for kids and/or if you’re considering adoption. You can also grab some sweet nibbles. A wonderful station for cat lovers passing through town.
They have cute cats that are playful. The guy working at the front desk was sort of unfriendly and doesn’t really socialize well with people though, from my experience. The ambience is really awkward, and I’ve heard other people say this too. It’s just tables & cat furniture and no music or anything to fill up the awkward silence, and everyone else in there was making awkward eye contact with other guests because the ambience was so uncomfortable. Its a great place to adopt a cat, but I think they need to do something about the ambience: Invest in warm, incandescent lighting instead of harsh white light, play soft or relaxing music so it’s not just awkward silence, maybe put game boards for guests when all the cats are taken or else you just look like a lost child looking for a cat to pet.
We really enjoyed the Lazy Cat Cafe. The work they do getting the cats adopted is amazing! Great way to support local animal rescue and relax and pet cats! A must for cat lovers!
It was cute! Cats seem well taken care of and the person at the front desk was nice! There was a guy who kept picking up the cats and playing with them against their wishes... And he was taking cats that were actively engaging with other people. I could not tell whether or not he worked there. But I think maybe some kitty safety rules should be enforced? I know that's not the lounge's fault, so I am not going to take away stars for this person's actions.
