Description "Please call Animal Control at 512-260-4600 ext. 0 for anything related to animals in the City of Cedar Park."
There was a sick opossum in front of my neighbors driveway that was still breathing and I looked for the animal control number and left a voice message. Based on the reviews, I was not expecting a call back nor anything but wanted to give it a try to help that poor thing. Surprisingly, 20 min later they knocked on my door, picked it up and left. I’ve no complaints at all. I really hope it survives.
I can personally name one officer and their supervisor as lazy and never returning calls. One is in the photo above posted by CPAC. Personally, I think when an issue involves an animal bite that an Animal Control officer would do better than a “matching description” of a dog for a common last name and require a certificate of rabies vaccination, but I guess avoiding and closing early is a common practice for all employees there. Sadly, this is how they handle matters regarding dangerous dogs. Luckily, the city council felt the same as I did. LETS PRAY FOR CHANGE AND BETTER EFFORT FROM OUR ANIMAL CONTROL.
Cedar park animal control never returns calls and or helps animals. They rather not do anything unless it hurts a person to put an animal down/ kill it.. they do not care if an animal is suffering and no other animals protective service can help due to its out of their jurisdiction/ unable to step on their toes. You can’t even catch an animal and give it to them if it’s in need of medical attention without being slapped with a bill for having empathy for another life when trying to do the right thing. This is a failure on the city’s part there are so many places they can work with to help animals not let them suffer or die.
Thanks so much to Officer Melant for the prompt response to my call regarding a possibly injured and/or ill possum in our backyard. She responded within minutes of my call and showed up shortly afterwards to safely and humanely capture and take the little critter to a rehab facility. Outstanding service!🙏🏼👌🏼😎
Intrusive presence at the park. Drawing conclusions about dog behavior that isn’t an issue. They just sit there and create a poor environment for dog lovers alike here at the park. Surely they have better things to do than annoy dog people at the park.
Found a rattlesnake in our garage on Friday, May 27 — called CPAC and left a message. They returned our call within 10 minutes, had us email a picture to positively ID the rattlesnake, and were at our house to relocate the snake 20 minutes later. Thank you to Madison and her partner for their help!
