This is a no kill shelter. What more do you need to know. They will take donations of blankets and comforters for the furry friends.
What a wonderful shelter. Cats and dogs are taken there and are loved and well cared for until a foster home or forever family is found for them. Their fees includes vaccinations, spaying/neutering, micro-chipping and applicable licensing. If you opt to become part of their foster network the fees are waived and medical care is provided. They operate an adoption center and have a clinic. Additionally, there is a Dog/Cat Food Bank operated out of the adoption center. They run off of donations of time, money (and food and liter as well). If you want further information give a call. They have a limited staff and ask that you leave a message if the machine picks up, they will get back to you! As of June 27, 2020, Boomer and Buddy are both looking to either be adopted or fostered. They are Newfoundlands, both incredibly sweet. They are part of a trio (brothers from different litters), Bailey was adopted today! While older, these two have personalities that will win over any heart.
I spent a month volunteering almost every day with Alaska SPCA when I was in Anchorage temporarily. I have partnered with numerous shelters and rescues over the past 10+ years, and can say the the SPCA adoption center staff are some of the best. They're knowledgeable, dedicated and incredibly caring. They love the animals and truly enjoy spending time with them, even coming in on their days off to volunteer.
Our experience with AK SPCA was remarkable 👏 the staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals, all details from their surrenders were given. The animals we met were in fantastic condition and you could tell all of them were being treated well. The adoption process was easy to navigate, and in our case we were able to take our new pup home that day. Piper was a staff favorite, and we can tell why, she's been nurtured by the SPCA which makes transitioning into a new family easier. I would recommend anyone to donate, volunteer, or adopt from this organization.
We rescued a cat and took him to ASPCA for a check up. Later I made a quick phone call to find out how to register my new cat’s chip. They gave me the number of the chip and also gave me the name of the 3 national registry so I could do further research to register my new kitty. Thank you ASPCA for being a place for inexpensive alternative for us “poor” folk. Especially in this terrible economy:)
Please bring any sheets/blankets/towels to donate They are so appreciative and nice
