Today we took Misoulla out for Shelter Skip Day! The staff were very friendly and provided toys, papers, collapsible water dish, harness and more in his backpack. It was just as therapeutic for me as it was him to get away from the stressful environment. The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area really cares about their animals!

I adopted “Outerspace” now named Viola in September 2024. After countless disappointments at other rescues, and even one that was adopted before I could adopt. The Humane Society knew I’ve been having a hard time finding the right fit for me. So I got a call saying “You have to see this girl she’s beautiful and will be a great fit for your home.” Well they were absolutely right! Viola is a blast, she’s crazy cute yet kind and very respectful of her older calico sibling. The adoption was affordable, all vaccines were done, and the spay was completed before I ever visited. Now one thing I hate, they stopped testing cats for FIV for financial purposes. That’s something I had to go to a vet for. This should really be done, I even offered to pay the Humane Society to do it but they rejected that. The staff were all fantastic, not just in the adoption process but also to other guest who either were adopting, asking for advice or sadly surrendering. Yet the staff had great attitude and did all they could to help everyone! I’m rating 5 stars also because they are now a NO KILL SHELTER!! Thanks to the Brandywine merger! That’s awesome!👏 Thank you Humane Society we love our little family

They were very nice and lady at desk new what she was doing for payment. I sent a message to check on Luke to see if he was ok and they called me and said he was doing really good and I appreciated the fast response. Thanks to everyone that made this surgery so peaceful for me.😊❤️❤️

My fiancee and I had a very upsetting experience here. We had brought in our dog to find a companion dog for her. We were told we could pre-adopt a dog that we and our dog fell in love with. We put money down on the dog and were told we could take her home after she was spayed. The next day we got a call saying that her original owner had come back to claim her. It's been over a month and we still have not gotten the pre-adoption money returned to us, even though I was told it would be mailed within 2 weeks. This experience has been very upsetting and I cannot recommend the Harrisburg Humane Society.

I got my cat spayed due to a deal they had. They treated my cat with dignity and respect. They even asked me if they had permission to sedate her and explained why. Which made the whole process a lot easier. My cat is now happy and frisky. Thank you!
