Had mother cat with four kittens show up one morning under our backyard deck. A call to North Coast Animal Control resulted in a call the next day from Officer Scott. After learning the details of our new guests he recommended that we work as partners to resolve the situation with directions for us to mitigate the situation until they would have an officer(s) contact us on Friday two days later. We were contacted Friday morning advising that officers would be there that morning. Officer Donahue and Officer in-Training Briana arrived later that morning. They managed to retrieve three of the four kittens, set a trap with instructions until they returned the next day. Briana returned the next day and was able retrieve the fourth kitten. However, she was unable to catch the Mother cat and left us with instructions to call the office if and when she was in the trap. Well that didn’t happen but Briana’s instructions allowed us to make progress in causing the cat to become very docile and her snooping near the trap caused it to close without her in it. So with a call to the office that we would be able to have the cat in our bedroom Briana came out and secured the cat within ten minutes. It took nine days but with a lot of communication, directions and a little patience all cats were finally retrieved by Tuesday morning. Thanks North Coast and great job Officers Donahoe and Briana.
I’m beyond disappointed with this animal shelter. They adopted out two kittens to us through a "foster to adopt" program, assuring us they had an appointment to be spayed the kittens the following week. After no follow up from the facility, we called to confirm the appointment and we were suddenly told there was an eight-month wait to fix the cats. This is not only misleading but highly irresponsible. Adopting out animals without ensuring they are fixed contributes to the overpopulation problem they claim to fight. When we confronted them about the discrepancy, they dismissed our concerns and made us feel like we were overreacting—classic gaslighting. This kind of dishonesty is unacceptable, especially from a place that's supposed to prioritize the welfare of animals. I would not recommend this shelter to anyone looking for a pet. If you adopt a pet from this shelter, be sure they are fixed before bringing them home!
They have wonderful staff and volunteers. The animals are extremely well taken care of. We loved them so much we became a foster for them💜
We adopted a beautiful kitty named Matilda (Tilly). We got sent home with goodies and where in n out in no time. Great staff that helped us get a new family member.
Our cat went missing for two weeks and was dropped off at this shelter. They all were beyond helpful, sweet and just absolute saviors. Particularly, Emily did everything she could in her power to connect our cat’s micro chip to our contact information. It was an absolute wild goose chase for Emily but she devoted all her time to make sure our cat could be reunited to us. Thank you again Emily for caring so much and putting in so much time and effort into reconnecting our cat. It was very clear how much this shelter cared about the well being of all the animals there.
These folks are experts in all aspects of animal services. Please check out their "Cat Cafe" where you can grab a snack, coffee/tea and hang with those wonderful felines! It's a Puuuuuurrrrffect anti-stress place. Those sweet kitties listen, and keep your secrets ❤💜❤🙊
