I've been here for a few months now and mostly everyone has been very friendly and kind. The only issue I've been having is there's no dedicated staff for services. Being in and out the shelter daily they know my name and recognize me but not once have they asked me if I would like to get connected with services or need mental/physical health services. It's okay, I mean it's very peaceful for the most part, and they do have 3 meals a day and potentially a snack as well. It's been very appreciated and it's keeping me from being out in the weather with all my belongings. If I could change one thing it would be people who are trying to work on themselves and leave should be able to stay in longer and have to go through a worker ( set appointments). The idea is the people working to leave could use the PCs or even get resources that could help them. The PC lab is very lackluster but looks nice... I walked in and had no clue what I needed to do to use the PC.

I have a friend who lives there. The food is often a day close to their spoil date, or already spoiled, or some random things they threw together in a pot. I’ve seen pictures of the food they offer to their Guests, it’s disgusting. Most of it can’t be named or really described. The beds aren’t even supposed to be called beds. They are thin mats on Metal bunk bed frames. The mats are as thin as Gym mats. They get one small pillow and a thin blanket. They usually depend on donations to have food to eat. Today, in the morning, the shelter is out of milk, but it’s a cereal day. They had one small cup of milk each for these tiny package cereals, like the ones they give you in hospitals. And the staff barely care and don’t help the homeless people there get jobs. There is no recourses truly given to them. And this “New Start” Program, for people who want to work but don’t get paid. They also work AT THE HOMELESS SHELTER ITSELF. 8 hours everyday, one bus pass, a few privileges. That’s it, they don’t get paid anything. That’s slavery almost. And 8 hours takes up the whole day and it’s not consecutive, it’s only when they are actively working. If you work in the Cafeteria, you have to be there all day. Serving, passing out snacks, prepping food. When will they ever use the bus pass? They have no off days in their work week either but don’t get paid anything? This Shelter is using homeless people as well as not giving them opportunities for a better life. Don’t go here. They don’t care about you or your homeless friends or family or loved ones. People struggle.

Program were they stoled from me, stoked ally clothes almost every month, stoked all my backpacks almost every month, every time it was the staff and gangs from the neighborhood working together then they threaten to kill me,entrance is horrible steals money, phones, atm cards, harps on cigerretes, weed, crystal, beer, etc never made it to work, tried to steal my social security check rob my bank account etc, pretending it had state law authority etc, real corrupt and organized crime type of welfare institute unconstitutional revolutionary extremists. They beat one in the middle of the night and stoled my wallet and cash and back pack then acted like the cameras and other staff didn't see them then white cops acted like it's okay because I got drunk and high or something.

Wasn't for Homefirst some folks would simply be out in the rain. 🌧️ They can place in a shelter, if you are so inclined sometimes within two or three days of initiating a call to their office.

Home first motto is " where homelessness end..... This is a non profit organization where they help the homeless an getting food or into a shelter. Or housing. I feel like they are scandalous. Getting funds pour out to them. Use the money for their gain. If You call to talk to your case manager. They never returned my call ever. I called everyday to see what was up with my housing. I can't believe how many times I was taken off the emergency list. But they denied they took me off. They said to me when I have a question about my housing I catch them always lying to me. I'm not the only one that has said about them. When I brought up my housing. They just kept saying we haven't given housing vouchers out since before the COVID 19 hit us . I said why are you lying to me. Maybe it was the 15 million dollars the governor stated was in the Budget. I m still waiting for it. Then told me I would be lucky if I got house in 6 yrs.

Thank you to Stephanie at the front desk for helping me out and contacting the pets of the homeless organization without hesitation. My dog Buddie is greatful too turns out that he needed surgery due to a infection under his nail that spread to all of his paws and could have became cancerous if not treated. You made it possible for his quality of life to be improved and mine too. Thank you.
