Based on the observations made during an undercover visit, it's evident that there are significant concerns regarding the operations and conditions at the facility in question. 1. **Restrictions and Surveillance:** Policies restricting the use of personal phones within the dormitory, coupled with staff behavior resembling authoritative enforcement, create an atmosphere of unnecessary control rather than fostering a supportive environment. 2. **Inadequate Facilities:** Reports of insufficient food portions for residents, unsanitary conditions in living spaces including dusty beds and unclean bathrooms, indicate a lack of attention to basic needs and hygiene standards, which can compromise the health and well-being of individuals seeking shelter. 3. **Segregation and Security Measures:** The segregation of men and women by a black curtain in the cafeteria raises concerns about equality and inclusivity, particularly in the context of modern societal norms. Additionally, the presence of barbed wire fencing in the outdoor area and strict regulations on leaving the premises raise questions about the balance between security measures and maintaining a welcoming environment for residents. 4. **Restrictive Policies:** Imposing rigid curfew hours and penalizing residents for not adhering to set times for returning to the facility can create unnecessary stress and hinder opportunities for residents to maintain connections with their support networks, such as family members. While commendable efforts such as drug testing and breathalyzer checks are noted, they alone do not mitigate the broader systemic issues outlined above. In conclusion, based on the observations and concerns raised, it is recommended that the management of the facility reevaluate their policies and practices to ensure they align with principles of dignity, respect, and inclusivity. Addressing issues such as hygiene standards, access to adequate resources, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment are essential steps towards fulfilling the mission of providing effective shelter services to those in need.
Seems like they exploit the women to stay longer in their program and have them work for free. Very rude staff with very little concerns on how they treat women with multiple children. Church is forced which is not godly. Locked me in my room for a week even though my kids were no longer sick. Very little food portions fed. Kicked people out on the streets almost daily. Women had been there for months without ever getting any help even getting a drivers license. I believe they just want to take advantage of people in a bad situation
For a shelter, the SBRM is well staffed, and they are friendly, God fearing people. They are organized and they provide good food and space to socialize. Please consider donating spare items here!
I believe their program needs to be revamped. To me it seems like, a cult organization. Being homeless I feel as they hold the Christianity ordeal over your head. If you have any issues outside of the norm, such as you needing to eat certain foods , please do not go here. You can not bring anything from the outside in there. They feed you very little food and do not follow the nutritionist chart. You will loose a lots of weight. Best believe the Pasor wide as the door and that big lady clerk. . They ain't missing or losing any food. They are starving those people in there. I am going to report all of this to the better business bureau
Good folks up this way if your in need of help and shelter staff willing to see what they can do to help and give sources
Love 💕 pastor Larry and all he does wish I could come back
