We were impressed by this small rescue kennel and the care they give their dogs and cats. Dogs are taken to outside oversized run enclosures several times a day. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, we got to interact with several dogs and adopted one.
Today, we came to see Dory and Bonita, two lovely cats. My daughter wants a kitten. After visiting many shelters before here, we noticed that Dory and Bonita were so friendly. The cats from the other shelters looked scared. We didn't adopt because my daughter wants a kitten. But if you are looking for very lovely cats, Dory and Bonita are so cute and happy. The staff are so friendly.
I love this no-kill animal shelter. Second Chances rescues at-risk cats and dogs from local municipal shelters and cares for them until they find their forever homes. It’s a great mission and the volunteers are great. I’d recommend Second Chance to anyone looking for a companion or looking for a place to volunteer.
My husband and I volunteered here & had an amazing experience. Everyone was super friendly, helpful and truly cared for all the animals. We ended up finding our little bundle of joy, Mia (aka "Priscilla"), in one of the kennels when we started our shift. Needless to say, we snatched her up immediately and she has brought so much joy to our lives. We had an incredible experience with 2nd Chance and thank them so much for our little miss Mia.
I went to this location looking to adopt a dog- Dachshund puppy. I was told his availability, and just to be sure, I confirmed the dog’s pre-adoption date with the Assistant Director, Erin days before. I was told the day this dog would become available would be on a Saturday, just to find out I was lied to and purposely given the wrong pre-adoption date (he was up for pre-adoption the day before, Friday). Not knowing this until the day I showed up (Saturday) I showed up early, and was confronted by rude, unprofessional kennel staff, questioning me as to why I was there so early to adopt a dog. If you are looking for smaller breed dogs, I would recommend going elsewhere.
We found Nacho on the website and when meeting him in person fell in love. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, the amount of space each outdoor dog run has and how happy the dogs seem to be. The adoption fees are VERY reasonable and the staff are friendly & helpful. Will definitely donate when possible. and you should too!! UPDATE: My elderly mother was accidently scratched by sweet baby Nacho when he was playing and due to a skin condition, it injured her. Because of the seriousness of her illness, we were afraid it would happen again. It broke our hearts to return this precious boy to Second Chances.. to no fault of his own. I just know he is going to be perfect for someone out there.. please take a chance on him! I just couldn't see keeping him kenneled for something that may accidently happen.. he is too sweet, too smart and deserves the best life possible.
