Loved Maryann and Christine (my adopted baby's foster mom). They were so careful, making 2 trips to our home, to make sure the fit was right before they let us adopt our darling boy, Bug. I love how they LOVE their rescues! Maryanne was very professional and had all the paperwork and medical records filled out with everything we needed. We still keep in touch sending videos and pictures. So happy to have found Tails of the City.

My mother is elderly (92) and cannot provide for herself or her dog. I called this shelter for information about pet surrender and the person who called me back was extremely difficult and insisted that I could take care of the dog. If that were an option I wouldn't have called a shelter but she rudely insisted that I had time to care for the dog even though she has no way of or reason to judge my personal situation. I hope this location is kinder to their animals than they are to people.

TERRIBLE experience with Maryann who runs this rescue. I fell in love with a sweet dog that had been posted. The current foster happened to be my neighbor when I reached out on Instagram, so after submitting an application we did a casual meetup on one of their regular walks just to see how the dog did on leash, personality around me, etc. I was smitten, and the foster was ecstatic about finding such a great fit. She called Maryann right away and wanted to move the process along, but Maryann had every excuse in the book. First it was that I lived in an apartment, then it was that I had a roommate, then it was that she didn’t think the dog should be an emotional support animal because of his original shelter notes, then it was she wanted him to go to a friend of hers instead, etc etc. After 2 weeks I ended up visiting a different rescue to bring a new fur baby home because I didn’t want to keep waiting and trying to convince Maryann to let that poor pup get adopted. BEWARE unless you’re willing to wait on poor communication, conflicting excuses, or have your heart broken that she just personally doesn’t like you. It’s clear that this isn’t about the animals’ well-being for her.
