I worked here for exactly a month in 2022 after I finished my Bachelors of Biology and it was the worst job I’ve ever had in my life. I should’ve known it was going to be bad when they hired me right after my interview and I found out that the turnover rate wasn’t very good. I was treated like an idiot the entire time I worked here by Deb who’s been working there for a very very long time. She acted like I was an incompetent ignorant fool and spoke to me like a child despite the fact that I was 22 and she was in no way in charge of me. I opened a lot of days and half the time I was late clocking in because you had to pound on the back door for 10 minutes before someone would happen to hear you and come let you in (the doorbell was, and had been, broken). When people would bring blankets toys, etc. in for their pets, I was told not to give them to the pet during their stay because they could get dirty and we may have to wash them. They told me to just let the owners believe they were getting these items which I don’t understand. Why not just explain that we wouldn’t be able to give it to the pet?? If I brought a toy for my dog to keep him company and they didn’t give it to him and also just didn’t mention that they wouldn’t let him have it I would be VERY upset. A couple times people would give us instructions on how much to feed their animals and they (Deb) would basically go “nah we know best” and give them however much they thought they needed. I understand if you think someone is over feeding their animal but I HIGHLY doubt it’s something they brought up with the owner. Sometimes the computer system that they use to log clock in/clock out times would glitch and we would have to write our times on a piece of paper to be fixed later and I’ll just let you see the attached photo of what transpired. I was told I had to move my car to a different space in the back parking lot because “people couldn’t get in” and you can judge from the photo whether people could or could not get in. I was often told by staff members that they “just aren’t a cat person” which is really sad to hear from people that are supposed to be taking care of others’ pets. I would hope you’re simply an animal person. The dogs are let outside 3 times a day for about 2-4 minutes each; there are so many of them and they go out 1 by 1 that they can’t let them out for any longer than that, otherwise they’re locked in a cage all day. I can’t speak for the vets because I never interacted with them for any significant amount of time but I CAN speak about the kennel which is where I worked. Part of the reason I didn’t like it wasn’t anything to do with the business itself but with the owners who would board their pets EVERY single day/for weeks at a time which made me incredibly sad. Can you image being locked in a box not much larger than 2-3 times your size for hours and hours or even DAYS? If you’re going out of the country/on a trip I would highly recommend paying a pet sitter so that they still get some human interaction and don’t spend all their time locked away and essentially forgotten. Story Time: One day an owner told me that they knew in the past when they boarded their dog that he tried to bite someone and she explained to me that if we left his harness on to take him outside inside of trying to slide a leash over his head everytime he would probably be less anxious and more well behaved. I told her that I would try my best but that we usually remove them because we don’t want them to get stuck or something to that affect. She also said it might be beneficial to have him on one of the kennels on the floor so we didn’t have to grab him to let him outside. I did as she requested for the first day and he was actually a really sweet dog. He let me pet him and I could stick my hand in the kennel to give him treats without issue. One day I was taking him outside and Deb basically yelled at me “do NOT touch him. He’s a bad dog!” and that pretty much sums up every interaction I had with her. In conclusion: needs improvement.
The Staff, Vet Techs and Dr. Marvin all were very caring, supportive, and reassuring. Richard Parker has gotten his appetite back and is getting stronger. We’ll be back 3-4 days after his UTI medication is finished as requested. Thank you all so very much!
Very accommodating and friendly. I needed a flu shot for my dog and they have late afternoon appointments which fit my work schedule. The service I received was outstanding.
The care my dog receives is second to none-from the capable front office staff to topnotch kennel care to experienced vet techs and vets, under the guidance of Dr. Marvin. My elderly dog has been a patient for over 13 years, and we keep going despite a move to Austin, AR, because thier care is that amazing.
I think y'all were great! Very friendly and helpful. As of the surgeon I do however think it should be told instead of making your great assistant with running back and forth in communication with your customers on concerns with surgery. This guilt & pain that I'm experiencing now is important for health insurance for your pets. Y'all get health insurance I just got my cat yesterday. I hate that with out full expense for surgery on a healthy kitty the put down to end life is just not sitting right with my spirit and how easy the choice is like the life doesnt matter, reading other vets stories from other areas not being able to consider euthinizing or hearing the hero doc saving life or a giving communty donating to these vets to help with ppl not affording cost just saddens me that my mom couldn't find that in this are change the way things area. God gave us responsibility to look over animals and I don't think this is the best we can do. I read the get to know the workers here and I finally have a face to who was behind this visit. I'm not here to talk down I just want to let others know we gotta get insurance cause guilt and pain is to strong Thank you ladies behind counter and to the assistant y'all were the best of help
The staff here have always been fantastic and have gone above and beyond anything I've needed them to do. Back in January of 2021, my cat Angus had some weird white fuzzy looking stuff in his urine. I brought him in, thinking he had a bladder infection or something (since I had recently moved and l'd heard that bladder infections are common when cats move house). Instead, I got what was probably the most painful diagnosis of my life: diabetes. The vet who was there was very kind and patient, giving me plenty of paperwork to read when I got home while also talking everything over with my husband (because, let's face it, I was bawling my eyes out too much to even process anything he was saying). He made sure to give me as much information as he could, and my cat and I returned several times over this past year. It has got to a point where two of receptionist recognizes me and Angus when we come in! Even with Covid regulations they are able to quickly check Angus in without any hassle and Skylar always makes me feel comfortable about leaving him there. The staff have always been super professional, nice, and understanding. Overall, they've been extraordinary, and I have no desire to change vet offices at any point!
