A very lethargic way of doing business. I Sent 4 applications for adoption to them. Two through “petfinder” and two directly to them. They would not respond until I ask “publicly” on a Facebook post of theirs about my application. They tell you the same thing that their automated message says on Facebook messenger.. “that they are only open by appointments and that their shelter is full.” They will not answer the question on how to get an appointment. I assume that is through application they responded to a week later. I was told they would be in touch on Monday. By Wednesday I still have not heard anything. I had to ask again publicly on Wednesday why I never heard from them, to which I was told the cat needed to “come back to there shelter for meds”? I was asked if I was interested in another animal. I asked when she would be ready…. Still no answer… they post several times everyday on Facebook pictures of their cats, but in 2 years of post barely a handful of adoptions??? What’s going on here? Lots of request for “donations” for food and litter, at 75.00 and 100.00 adoption fees why not get some cats adopted to pay those bills. Someone should look into this. At least we know why their shelter is full…
I recently adopted a wonderful baby boy from this shelter. Despite the negative reviews the process went exactly the way they stated. It took about a week for them to check out the application (There is one hard working volunteer that handles all of them) then they contacted me to come meet and take him home. I couldn’t be happier and encourage anyone to adopt your own or help these great people.
I highly recommend contacting Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue if you want to support the care and rehoming of cats of all ages. Volunteers work tirelessly to care for rescued felines at the location on King's Hwy and in several foster homes. It's a wonderful place to adopt a kitten or mature cat. It's also a great place to volunteer and help make the community a better place for everyone.
Great experience. Applied online (emailed app), received a call within 24 hours, had my new kitty that next weekend. They are very thorough in determining what kitty is best for you, your family, and housing situation. Thanks, Jen!
For a place that says they need people to adopt, they certainly don’t respond to applicants. At the very least I would expect an email explaining if my application was accepted or denied and why. Or maybe, “the cat you applied for was adopted, but we still have these available”? That would’ve been nice.
Friendly staff, sweet cats that are well cared for. I was personally contacted by a staff member about the cat I was looking to adopt and given updates on the kitten's status! She was well informed and helpful in giving information! (loved it). Small area, but cats are allowed to roam and seem to be happy!
