The experience was great when I went in for an adoption of a cat. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the animals in their care. Although the cat I wanted wasn’t available, I found an adorable cat named Magnolia. She aclamated to me immediately and she has a forever home ❤️
The volunteer we had that showed us some pets (forgot her name but she was a lovely older lady) was great at explaining info on each dog-we ended up taking home Cinnabon and was an easy process to do so— they initially said she wasn’t house trained or potty trained but when we brought her home, she knew exactly where and when to go potty, knows “sit”, and even is a GREAT listener! Sometimes the kennel environment makes it difficult for dogs to be themselves so FYI for anyone adopting.
I accepted the cat distribution system when I found a stray kitten and brought her into Animal Control. They posted her to channels to find a potential owner, administered all initial vaccines, spade and gave her an initial checkup thru a comprehensive (and affordable) process. I was able to foster her in my home and keep her after the procedure was completed. Everyone was so nice and reasonable. They were on time for every appointment and incredibly accommodating. This was easily the easiest and most enjoyable process I have endured in the last decade. I appreciate everyone at this facility.
I wasn't sure I was ready to take on a new cat after mine passed. However recent events and exposure to pets has made me realize after 18 months; it was time. I have always gone to the Humane Society in the past however I'm glad I went to MACC this time. The woman I met at the desk was so kind, funny, and helpful. We chatted quite a bit. I then went in and met all the cats and kittens. All the cats seemed well taken care of, I witnessed the staff caring for them, changing the blankets/towels in their cages, gently providing care and attention. I could tell they truly cared for these cats. I had met some of the volunteers before hand as well, since I arrived shortly before opening, I waited outside and saw them walking in the doggos. I got to meet a few. They all seemed so loving and cheerful as did the puppers. I knew I was in the right place. I fell in love with my Lily right away. I saw her online before visiting and was the cat I had planned on seeing (tho her name at the shelter was Cavatappi). I loved seeing all the notes the staff and volunteers leave about their interactions with each cat. The notes were so accurate to my experience as well. Lily was just as they described, extremely affectionate and cuddly. We got home and she climbed right up my chest, nuzzling and hugging my neck all while gently purring away. She's barely made a peep, a few mews here and there but she already follows me around like a little puppy. Her adjustment period has been very short and seems to find herself right at home already, although she's young (under a year) she was a stray and I wasn't sure how the adjustment period would go. She was completely free of charge which is mind blowing seeing as she has been vaccinated, chipped, and neutered. The follow up resources with vets being free as well and the coupon for petco...all game changers in getting a cat set up in a new home. I wasn't sure I was ready, but now that she's home.. I know I made the right choice. She is perfection and has already made me smile and laugh more than I had anticipated; she has madea positive impact in my life and I plan to do the same for her. Love my new girlie and it's all thanks to MACC!
We adopted Banjo about a month or two ago. Staff was very friendly and helped us find a cat that was right for us. He is living his best happy and healthy life!
The MACC was a great experience from the start. The animals seem well taken care of, and the staff are great. Some of the people you get walking in are a bit strange, but I guess that’s anywhere. All of the employees are super kind and willing to work with you, and the licenses and adoption process is relatively low cost, even if you are a non-Minnesota resident. One of the animals I was looking at got adopted before I could arrive, but the staff were incredibly empathetic and helped me look for other options. I will definitely be returning here to continue my search.
