Description Welcome to Second Chance Cats of West Michigan! We are a nonprofit foster-based cat rescue and adoption center in West Michigan. Our goal is to give cats in need of a little more time, patience, care, and understanding, a second chance at living a full and healthy life. Whether it be medical attention, or the time and space to learn to trust again, we will not give up on these living souls. This is a group effort, a community effort. United we stand to be advocates for felines. We cannot take strays in from the public and usually take cats that have a chance of not making it at other shelters. Please contact the Kent County Animal Shelter or Humane Society if you have a stray that is in need of shelter.

Never have had such a wonderful experience at a shelter. You can tell they are definitely are all about making sure the cats get the best possible placement possible. With that being said they also strive for the best customer service. Laura the co-founder was working when I came in with my daughter a half hour before closing and we found the perfect kitten but I wanted my husband to come see her before making the final decision and she stayed a couple minutes after closing for that to happen. Then after filling out the application on a Saturday, the adoption coordinator Marj was was very fast in processing and very responsive to any questions that I had. I would definitely suggest this shelter for anyone looking for a cat. Could not be happier.
We recently adopted the sweetest kitten from this rescue and had a very good experience. I appreciated that they have a thorough adoption process to ensure their kittens/cats go to a safe, healthy and loving forever home. The cats in the facility are clearly well cared for and comfortable, and the volunteers are passionate about matching the cats with the best home. Highly recommend! Thank you for connecting us with our newest family member!
They seem to pick the nicest cats for adoption. Our cat was a feral and he's so nice. All volunteers. Adoption costs are low.
I accompanied my cousin to Second Chance Cats when she was looking for a furry companion (or two) to keep her company after moving to the GR area from Detroit. After a somewhat overwhelming experience at the Humane Society (on a Saturday morning 😳), we stopped by Second Chance Cats and were pleasantly surprised by the relaxed and inviting atmosphere. My cousin told the ladies what kind of cat she was looking for and they directed her immediately to two bonded cats, recently rescued from a hoarder house. My cousin fell in love & adopted them straight away. Frankie (originally Dawn) & Marlo are now thriving in her care and have become quite the friendly duo!
Second Chance takes in, socializes, and adopts out cats that are often harder to adopt out. I adopted an office cat through them a few years ago and love him so much. As I learned more about SCCWM, I decided to become a volunteer because I believed in their mission. I love being involved and I love the cats there. I highly recommend adopting from there. Great people and even better cats! 😻
We visited here when they were doing a lot sale to help the vet. The vet is so great for all they do and the staff was absolutely wonderful! Definitely recommend
