My husband and I adopted our sweet boy Iago from NCAS a year and a half ago. We couldn’t wait to take him home with us. Iago was still in tact when he was surrendered to the shelter but the staff took excellent care of him, the adoption paperwork went smooth, and they even gave us a donated carrier to take him home in. We love Iago and couldn’t imagine our lives without him!

I adopted a sweet and adventurous surrendered cat (whom I've named Zuko, pictured below) from their shelter. Although, I can't take him home (until after his neuter surgery, which very much makes sense), they've let me come and visit him every day. The staff are so kind, patient, and caring and they let adopters pick through the donations. I can't recommend this shelter enough; volunteers are so incredibly passionate about the care of the animals they're helping but also of the adopters. This is also the nicest facility I've ever been to. I definitely will adopt from here again!

This is the place to come to of you're having a disturbing, sick, violent, animal in someone's care like your neighbors, family that visits them or in anyone else's care that is getting people sick, is a health hazard or just a nuisance and a threat to your well being. Here you can file a complaint in person and chat with a staff member regarding adoption or about anything else you have questions or concerns about. This is a huge Animal Shelter that takes in various animals besides dogs and cats, they have birds, fish, horses some snakes lizards a few exotic species. I believe they have around 200 dogs at the moment. There's also adoption opportunities for animals that are there if that is what you are interested in. This location is easily accessible by public transportation and is a short walk from the Cypress Park Metro Station. I visited here to file numerous complaints on the dogs that are roaming through my apartment building and the horrible things people make these animals do. So if you have a dog that is barking anytime you're near a window in your apartment, home, car whether if it's you cooking, getting some rest, eating, studying or reading the staff at the North Central Animal Shelter will help you get these animals away from you and your property if you live in the area that this location services. You can contact Los Angeles Animal Services to get more details on how to find the location closest to you.

Please adopt, don't shop! You can adopt dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters here. Occasionally you'll find domestic pet rats, reptiles, and chinchillas up for adoption as well. Absolutely all of the volunteers here are amazing, kind, and caring. Things can be overwhelming for staff and volunteers and the amount of animals they have to care for, plus assisting the public. The level of care for all the animals need to step up but they're working with what the city funds them. I digress. There's a small parking lot but also street parking. A few areas in the shelter for meet-n-greet of your potential furry companion.

I used this animal shelter's boarding services for my dog while I was out of town, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The staff members were attentive and caring, ensuring that my dog felt comfortable and secure during his stay. The quality of the facilities was excellent, with ample space for exercise and socialization. Considering the peace of mind I had knowing that my dog was in good hands, the value of the boarding service was truly unmatched. I highly recommend this shelter to anyone in need of reliable and compassionate boarding services for their furry companions.
