I adopted the most precious pup. They were great at customer service. Many more beautiful dogs ,cats and bunnies 🐰 need homes Please consider adopting at this shelter My puppy only cost 102$ out the door with neuter, shots and microchip and 1 vet visit plus 250$towards any needed treatment voucher.
So I was not going to go to this shelter from the reviews. It also is not in the best area. But I am glad I did. I rescued my new GSD puppy here recently. First off. I went to about 5 animal shelters in LA county. The animal shelters are being bombarded with dogs. Many of them are pregnant, senior, GSD, pit mixes. Then they are understaffed even with volunteers. They all seem to be doing the best they can under the circumstances. It was difficult to walk by and see so many dogs. Some were crying. I am sure they did not know what they did to deserve being dumped. I wanted a puppy and also a GSD or at least a GSD mix. Luckily there was a GSD puppy that was recently surrendered. The staff was kind and so helpful. (Also understood my giddiness of getting my new puppy!) I understand that puppies are more fragile because they are not fully vaccinated, but I wish there was a better meet and greet place where the puppy could get put on the ground instead of being just held. The one major negative was the people that checked me out where I paid. They were abrupt to the point of being rude. If the other staff treated me that way I was treated at the pay spot, I would have left. So please look past the shelter reviews and go look to rescue a dog that needs you (and that you need) no matter the shelter.
The shelter was crowded with so many cold and helpless dogs. I went to get FREE DOG & CAT FOOD ON SUNDAYS FROM 1PM-3PM! Must sign up on L.A. ANIMAL Services to reserve a spot for the following week.
I like this shelter because the volunteers are truly dedicated. They do an amazing job taking care of the rabbits, hamsters, and Guinea pigs. Also, the cats are looked after well. I see they walk the dogs around. It’s hard because there are many large dogs that need to be adopted. Definitely a shelter to check out and find a pet and rescue it. I found my rescues here. They are my angels.
Adopted these two perfect girls from LAAS South LA shelter. The volunteers and staff are very kind and knowledgeable. The dogs are healthy, know basic commands, house trained, were already spayed with current shots and now licensed. Another thing that I love when adopting! The spay / neutering + vaccines are always included in the adoption fees, and the pet gets a forever home. Hope to have my new spoiled family members for many years to come. Huge thank you to all the staff & volunteers here!!
The staff needs some serious reevaluation on what it means to work at an animal shelter. This is supposed to be a safe haven for abandoned animals. A place where they can be taken care of and loved. Unfortunately, this place is the complete opposite. From my experience with the few people that I interacted with there, they did not seem to care about what happens to animals that have no one to look after them. If you don’t have a passion about this, then why work here to begin with? I don’t know her name but there was a girl with glasses who works at the front and I’m highly disappointed in her. She was rude and nonchalant, aside from seeming to not care about an animal in need. Please either re work the staff or don’t come at all.
