So thankful for the staff there when I noticed my kitty having issues with her eyes late in the day & no vets had any openings. They really helped ease my mind & get my sweet kitty on track to recovery from her high blood pressure. Absolutely 100% recommend. Staff are so sweet!
Amazing staff and service. Quick, efficient and fair pricing. Had to have a partial amputation done for my cats tail and a few more visits because my cat would keep opening her wounds again. I recommend Pet Care Plus to anyone who loves their pets.
They came to my house and put my 14 year old girl down for me. A truly wonderful service for pets fearful of the vet & they were very kind. Thank you so much.
Short version: This “emergency” vet clinic doesn’t even own an x ray machine. I believe they misdiagnosed my dog with cancer based off of x ray photos texted to the vet’s cell phone. Luckily, my dog is fine. He just had kennel cough. Edit for business response: they keep reiterating that they never said the word “cancer” (which is a lie) when discussing Rupert’s diagnosis. When I looked up the definition of some of the things the vet told me on that call that I took notes of, one of the things she said my dog could have is “solitary arnocarsonoma” which is a type of cancer. And that the most likely type of cancer for this region for his age would be lymphoma or finoma. I didn’t just pull these phrases from mid air, it’s verbatim what the vet told me on the phone. ——-——-——-——- Long version: My dog started coughing quite abruptly and it was a very bad cough. I took him to Pet Care Plus as my primary vet was too booked that day. Pet Care Plus knew I wanted x rays when I booked the appointment as I was concerned he may have aspirate pneumonia and needed x rays to rule that out and mentioned that on the call. When I arrived to my appointment, they THEN told me they dont even own an x ray machine. Their solution was to charge me $25 to transport my dog to another vet clinic to charge me $175 to have x rays taken at a totally different clinic down the road. Out of desperation, I took my dog to that vet clinic to meet with PCP staff and have the X rays done. That clinic had technical issues that day so the receptionist at that clinic texted the vet at Pet Care Plus, Dr. Schwafel, a picture of the X ray monitor of the images they took of my dog. Dr. Schwafel did not see these X rays in person, or that is at least what the receptionist who texted Dr. Schwafel the photos of the X ray monitor told me when I called and asked. Based off of these low quality images on her cell phone, Dr. Schwafel diagnosed my dog with a mass that was likely cancer. I had 4 other vets see my dog and review the x ray images and also take new images of their own because they said the x ray images were so low quality you couldn’t make any proper diagnosis based off of those. Lo and behold, there was no mass on my dog. My dog doesn’t have cancer. There were no signs of a mass on my dog even on the original x ray images. Pet Care Plus’s own medical vet on staff reviewed the x rays and referred to that mass as basically being a “shadow”, this is how PCP’s business manager described it. Since I have taken this issue to Pet Care Plus, their office manager Amanda has been lying to me about what transpired here, saying that they never said my dog had cancer, that I was misunderstanding the situation, that the vet didn’t base the diagnosis off of photos texted to her, etc. I have sent Amanda my dogs new radiology images, the radiology report that makes no mention of cancer or a mass, care summaries from other vets stating the X rays PCP took were normal aka no masses. And Amanda is still choosing to be combative, argumentative, and for whatever reason just cant simply admit they made a mistake and do the right thing. It’s incredibly irresponsible for a vet to diagnose a dog with a mass that is most likely cancer based off of iPhone pictures of an x ray monitor texted to her phone. As a result, I’ve reported Dr. Schwafel to the BPL who are in charge of reviewing complaints against people who hold veterinary licenses. I’m not sure if anything will come of this, but I want to try to save other people the heartache of having your dog misdiagnosed under such unprofessional circumstances. This all could have been avoided if Amanda had just refunded the cost of my dogs visit at Pet Care Plus and apologize for their mistake. I wasn’t even asking to be refunded the cost of the extra X rays and review and vet exams I had to pay due to Dr. Schwafels original diagnosis. I’ve had multiple phone calls with Amanda and it was clear to me the first time we spoke she was never going to do the right thing, so I guess it is what it is.
My pup was back and forth to the vet and was pretty touch and go there for a minute. He was in pain, didn’t eat or drink for days, was lethargic and was vomiting up blood. He required sub q fluids the first day and his regular vet did labs and X-rays. Liver enzymes were off the charts. He was miserable. We started him on a liver support, antibiotics, and anti nausea meds. He suffered for two days and none of ate or slept watching this little guy through for two days. Then I decided he needed more support. I called Pet Care Plus, they assessed him, had a vet check him out, gave him some more sub q fluids, had a tech come give him an ultra sound (worth every penny) to look at all his organs. They treated us like family. He is on the mend and we are ever grateful to find out that there is nothing critical and we get to spend more time loving our pup. I’m in healthcare and can’t say enough about how bomb this place is as well as how awesome their staff are. Thank you again! 20 star rating from me. Best pet care place around!
I called because my puppy hurt her leg and the person I spoke to was SO helpful and kind. She let me know right up front that her doctor was not in today and they did not have x-rays available but then provided me with a solution and gave me alternate numbers to call and offered to at least bring her in to be seen to see if the doctor would recommend x-rays and at least get her comfortable with some medication if that’s what’s ordered. I am so very appreciative! If I could give 20 stars, I would.
