The word colic haunts pretty much every horse owner especially when you learn surgery is the only option other than putting your horse down. The team at U of I Large Animal Clinic saved my 18 year old paint horse’s life. The surgeon Dr. Sara Gray, the residents, the staff and the students were absolutely amazing. My horse is a huge part of my life and my family and I couldn’t imagine life without him. Thanks to the wonderful people here, I don’t have to and I couldn’t be more grateful. I highly recommend this facility.

I have to say that the staff are truly outstanding!! Dr. G took all the time I needed to understand his findings. This time he could find nothing wrong. It is always a pleasure to be greeted in such a manner. Thank you to all at the LG animal hospital. YOU ROCK!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Took my cat in for a huge cut on her right side took them 12 hours to even give her stitches extremely rude when asked for an update and how much longer it will be. Was told 4-6 hours was well past that. Will not be returning.

The Large Animal Clinic is as good as it gets in Equine care (and other species as well). The Doctors and staff are extremely knowledgeable, and caring. The facility has everything needed on site. Large, clean stalls when overnight care is needed. The whole facility is also air conditioned. If you pre-register your animals, you only need to call and let them know you are on the way, and what the issue is, they are then ready for you when you arrive.

Would never go here ever again! Took my 2 year old mini stallion here to get gelded cause he was a crypto. Dropped him off Tuesday morning and they did the procedure Wednesday morning. They did very well on gelding him but when we bought him home Thursday afternoon he wasn't acting normal. We thought he was just in severe pain and figured he would be better after a couple of days. But Friday morning he had hay and water pouring out of his mouth and nose. Turns out he was colicing which had to of happened in their care cause by the time we got hom back to the vet he had a severe infection and his organs were already failing. All they could say was that they were sorry and they were gonna say he died on the operating table
