Bella Run Equine will always be our go-to for adding equines to our herd and family. Whether you need a family horse, trail partner, pasture companion, or competitor for any discipline, give Bella Run Equine a chance. A few weeks ago, we suddenly lost a gelding, leaving his surviving pasture mate distraught. These horses, previously boarded together, had come home to live on our property as a bonded pair. After posting on Facebook for a suitable companion and describing our current horse, Rachel Bendler, Co-Founder and Director of Bella Run Equine, reached out with a proposed match. Within a week, we applied and scheduled an appointment to meet Lena. We fell in love! Rachel is an incredibly skilled horsewoman, rehabilitator, and matchmaker. Lena met all our criteria: easy to handle, affectionate, and gentle enough for young children. She was also the perfect match for our horse with her non-dominant nature and similar energy level. The introduction was drama-free, and the horses are now thriving together. While we hope not to lose another horse for a long time, it’s a relief to know Bella Run Equine exists should we want to add a third.
I learned of this rescue at a time when I was looking for a good trail horse & wanted a gaited breed. When in contact with Rachel I quickly discovered how dedicated & fair / honest she was. She responded to my messages after long days travelling from auctions to save more horses. My husband & I are so happy with the 3 year old Paso Fino gelding we brought home in August 2016. It is impressive that Rachel screens potential adopters & matches with appropriate horses. Our Paso Fino is completing training & has grown into what I believe will be the best trail mount I've ever had. Were it not for the kindness & commitment of Rachel & her staff he would have gone to meat packers for not much money ( cause he was a little skinny guy). Thanks to Bella Run for saving him & trusting me to adopt him.
You wont find more amazing people doing dog and horse rescue. Rachel and Zack are top notch rescuers and the animals of Ohio are lucky to have them. You can trust what they tell you about the animals they have up for adoption.
Rachel and Zack at BRE work tirelessly to rehabilitate horses otherwise bound for slaughter. They only place in good homes and are always available for questions or concerns after placement as well. They definitively epitomize the term “responsible rescue”.
I adopted an AMAZING mare. She is everything Bella Run described.
I met the couple that runs this rescue farm and what an amazing place!!! I went there to meet Jax, one of the farm dogs they have there. If you are looking for a horse or dog to adopt this is a great place to look.
