Description The San José Animal Care Center at 2750 Monterey Road in San José is a full-service, no-kill, animal shelter operated by Animal Care and Services (ACS), a full-service division of the City of San José with four inter-connected units: Field Services, Shelter Operations, Medical, and Administrative Services. San José Animal Care and Services (SJACS) serve the communities of San José, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Milpitas, and Saratoga; approximately two-thirds of the residents of Santa Clara County.

Took two cats for TNR spay / neuter. The folks there were very nice (even though they are so short staffed) They helped me with the paperwork and got me out fast. The pick up in the afternoon was smooth, they provided advice for the care. Animal control is always looking for volunteers and foster parents to help take care of the animals. Give them a call, the animals really appreciate it.

I’ve been coming to this place for ten plus years now and there are some friendly staff but some of them are very rude and uptight. Unfortunately every room smells horrendous because it seems like they do not air out the place or have proper ventilation and lack cleaning. They also do have broken hand sanitizer dispensers inside the rooms. However, they do have working dispensers outside of the rooms.

Needs New Management Under staffed Not all Animals are being monitored its Dirty Animals keep dying here its on the News . They took a rabbit I fostered for two months without reason guess they think all Animals belong in cages .

I rescued this dog from the shelter they called me and told me no one claimed them and that I was the only person that inquired about him. I finally got to take him home. I hope I didn't get myself into a big mess. He is and good dog but needs a lot of training to be done with him. They gave me a crate and some dog food for him and they're going to fix him and Chip him. This is all done for free for me taking him from the shelter.

They are amazing and provide quality food, toys and care for there animals. Lots of loving dogs looking for good homes. Able to foster animal for 90 days before adoption and any health issues would be taken care of by the city or can take back if not the right fit for you as well. Currently all dogs over 35 pounds are free too! Also all animals are fixed and have a tracking chip before they leave to be fostered or adopted. Great place and care people!

I understand they are doing great job and I found my 3 year old staffy there. One issue is that if you are not in a city that falls in that county.. Then you can't take the dog for foster care before taking a final decision to adapt. As a first time dog owners..I think fostering a dog before adoption would have been better for me.
