This is a long overdue post to thank Dr. Wiese (and Brittany) for their excellent care of our dogs, but especially our dog Oreo. Oreo has been battling chronic heart failure for over two years and then suddenly lost the use of his back legs. We had scheduled a euthanasia appointment but brought him to see Dr. Wiese as she knows him and we wanted to get her professional opinion. Dr. Wiese spent A LOT of time with us, discussing options and examining oreo. I won’t go into all the details as I don’t want Oreo’s experience to give someone false hope about their dog, but she recommended a treatment, which resulted in him regaining the use of his back legs and really returning to ‘normal’. We know that this is temporary as he’s 15 and still battling CHF, but we now have a little more quality time with him and more importantly, he’s back to his happy self. So thank you Dr Wiese for taking the time to determine the best treatment option. And thanks to Brittany for being there through the entire appointment.
Terrible!! Over the last year I had two negative experiences with staff to the point where my dog is only afraid to go to this vet's office. I had to pull all medical records to take my pet to another vet you should do the same. If your pet is sick they will abandon you if you have common sense about the treatment plan and you are not willing to $$$$ for tests.
POOR FRONT STAFF GROOMING EXPERIENCE. My dog was left in a cage all day without being groomed due to "pre-requisites" that were not clearly stated. Today, I dropped off my Dog for grooming. They accepted her, brought her in, only to then call me hours later to say they will not groom her and kept her in a cage all day in isolation. I have been coming to VCA Los Gatos for almost a decade - mostly because I finally found a good groomer - dog connection. I keep coming back, despite now having moved and VCA LG is more than 30 min driving time away from me, because my dog seems to be comfortable getting groomed there, and the groomer does a good job. Over time, there has been more and more and more added "pre-requisites" to get a groom. First off, I am all about healthy pet practices. I am more than willing to spend the extra dollars to keep my dog healthy. My biggest complaint is the way in which this VCA handles communicating CLEARLY about these pre-requesites as well as WHY. I am told that my dog needs to be up to date on "Vaccinations." What vaccinations? There are several- bordetella, lepto, rabies, flu, different variants of flu... all of their documentation, including the very form that they ask you to fill out before a grooming, says clearly "all pets entering VCA animal hospital of Los Gatos for grooming MUST be current on Rabies Vaccine." This has always been on their form for years. I get it. My dog is up to date on Rabies. Makes sense. Done. Then the Saturday before her grooming appointment on Mon, I get a text message, saying they have not received an updated vaccine record. Super strange because just beg. of Jan, I presented my dog's rabies vaccine record and her grooming at that time proceeded without concern. I call back, no one picks up. They are closed on Sunday. Monday morning, they text me again, asking for updated records. I send them in again. They keep asking for "Vaccines." I'm like... yes, you all state you require Rabies... thats been done. Why do you keep asking? I check in my dog, the form says I need to have Rabies vaccine, which I do. They do the intake, take her in, and I think everything is fine. at 920a almost 2 hours later, they say they could not validate the vaccines, and they will not be grooming her. Why in the world did you do the intake and take Moka in then?!? and STILL at this moment, NO ONE HAS TOLD ME WHAT VACCINE SHE IS MISSING AND WHY. I go to pick up my dog and I ask for explicit documentation of what vaccine is required for grooming. the paperwork literally says RABIES. No other vaccines listed. All of my text messages with them ask for RABIES. And then they start to pull up some phone history of chats claiming they told me there were other vaccines needed. Even if that were true, again, then why did you all accept my dog to be received, and also why was it never clearly documented? How is a working professional supposed to keep track of all the different changing requirements of vaccines? The point of a dog getting a vaccine is to prevent spread of disease from my dog to others or vice versa... if that is the case, and you truly still thought my dog was not vaccinated, then why did you intake my dog and bring her to the back where she could have, or could have been, infected by other dogs? Oh and by the way, now they also required a full body exam - before a grooming. why? This all just seems like a ploy by VCA LG to upsell you on more and more services. Chelsea, Caitlin, Cherie, Phoenix, you should be ashamed of yourselves
Do not go here. They over charge and will refer to emergency vet for any issue that comes up rather the seeing their clients. They are severely and chronically understaffed. Wait times are excessive even with a scheduled appointment.
We've been going here a year now for our dog and we love VCA Los Gatos. All the staff are incredibly friendly and they always take the time to help our shy dog during exams and when she gets hurt. We also appreciate that they're open on Saturdays for appointments. Highly recommend bringing your pet here!
WHen our senior kitty was sick recently, the VCA doc called us every few days to see how we was doing. I wish my doctor would do that! She listened, and offered a variety of options for addressing the issues.
