Description The Whole Pet Vet Hospital & Wellness Center offers comprehensive veterinary medicine, dentistry and surgery; Integrative medicine approaches including acupuncture, physical rehabilitation, chiropractic, dietary and herbal consultations; and personalized, compassionate care for your individual pet's needs. The Whole Pet Vet was the dream of Dr. Hilary Wheeler, whose vision was to provide a personalized approach to veterinary healthcare with a focus on wellness and disease prevention. We do not endorse a generalized approach that provides a packaged set of standards for each cat or dog. Instead, we evaluate your pet as a whole including behavior, environment and lifestyle to help you make the best decisions to optimize your pet's wellness.

I've been taking my dogs to the Whole Pet Vet from very early in the establishment of the practice. The team is very knowledgeable and fantastic with sports dogs. My most recent dog was diagnosed early in her life with hip and elbow dysplasia. She's not the easiest dog to examine and handle. I guess I wouldn't like poking and prodding either if I was dealing with chronic pain. The staff has been so kind and understanding with her. The practice follows the protocols for fear free pet handling bearing their own personal safety in mind. As a result, we've been able to provide my not so easy to examine dog with a lot of therapeutic interventions to manage her dysplasia. The practice integrates a number of advanced modalities into her care ranging from pharmaceuticals, stem cell therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage therapy. The team of professionals has served her well and given her the ability to move as pain free as possible to enjoy and perform at the highest levels of a variety of scentwork sports.
We see Dr Lee for integrative holistic care and we absolutely adore her. She is sharp and knowledgeable. However there are serious communication deficits within the administrative staff. I won’t go into all of it, but every interaction I have had with them has left me scratching my head. After lack of communication regarding some fairly large issues: We found out weeks after our first appointment that they do not have an on site acupuncturist, which is the only reason we moved our dog’s care to them. The Dr told us they’d reach out to schedule acupuncture and long story short that never happened and I subsequently learned we’d have to find our own acupuncturist. Similar story with the chiro, who is on leave until mid/end of October. Issues with getting supplements we are prescribed and not being given enough to last to get more sent to us before we run out. Administrative people not talking to each other or following up with clients. The office manager called me to “listen to all of my concerns”.. which lasted exactly 8 minutes, with her talking for the first 6 and ended with her yelling at me after my first point and my having to end the call mid yell. I don’t understand when it became a thing to be defensive and yell at clients who they call to discern what issues the business is having.
Clean pet vet hospital. Friendly staff, vet has good care of dogs, kids and family friendly.
It is difficult to get appointments in an timely manner even for established patients. They do offer services that other vets do not but often these appointments take months before being seen and follow-up appointments for these types of services can take weeks to get back in. When your furry friend has a injury or a condition timely appointments are critical. I do like it is a "fear free" practice and the techs are kind. After being a client there for quite some time while they are competent, I don't see how they are provide better service or better quality of care than other vets. I actually found their prices to be inflated by compassion and they are not a pet insurance friendly place. I have had many cats and dogs over my 30 adult years on the ranch and have visited many Animal Hospitals and this place, which was highly recommended, left me wanting. After about 30 appointments over a few years I consistently felt the front desk staff was unwelcoming and not warm or kind to the animals being seen, and they were not warm or kind to their parents they were just indifferent. I just expected more.
We have been taking the dogs and cats to WPV for years. They have a wonderful office staff and the vets are the best I have ever had. Dr Wheeler sees the boys, Chip and Cooper, havanese and bichon since they were puppies. Dr Lee deals with the kitties and has been taking care of them for 10 yrs. I can’t say enough about all of the vets in the office. They are all wonderful and do everything possible to keep everyone health. You can’t go wrong if you take your pet to them.
I want to like this practice but two things stand out. The inflated pricing is absurd. Took our doodle to UC Davis for second opinion and even they knew of this practice and the ridiculous pricing. Second is the rough treatment of my elderly dog. We are leaving this practice immediately.
